Damn, and it would be Joe judge
yep
I could care less.
If Lane leaves before the Egg it will be a massive gut punch to the team. Joe is going to have his hands full trying to get players and asst coaches to focus. They will see those playoff dreams start to fade away. If FSU was kept out bc they lost their starting QB OM can certainly be left out because they lost their head coach.
If I was Pete Golding, I am looking for another job. Getting screwed over just so Ole Miss could troll State would be the straw that broke the camel's back.
Sometimes I really dislike our fanbase, we have innate ability to find absolutely the worst take on any situation. No context, no real understanding of why things are what they are. The confederates are going to be without one guy, all the players will remain the same and they have better players than us. Players win or lose games, coaches put players in the positions to win or lose games. And this is a rivalry game, anyone that thinks they will lack motivation because their head guy left for a huge raise has never played in anything.
No one started this thread talking about motivation. What part of our fanbase do you dislike due to this post?
Straight fact, if an interim wins, he has the same number of SEC wins as Lebby in 2 years.
IF the game is close in the second half, the decisions of an interim, and lack of flow with the coordinators does make a difference.
How many times did we look checked out because Mullen was interviewing somewhere the week of the Egg Bowl? Maybe Ole Miss has a stronger culture than we did but it could definitely work in our favor if Lebby can get them back to playing hard.
All that said, the last two games are a trend that can get a coach fired. We have looked unprepared and unmotivated. Both teams were better than us but so were ASU, UT, Texas, and UF. I think Lebby is here next year but losing something like 50-10 on your home field can motivate people.
Lebby desperately needs this team to at minimum be competitive which we haven't seen in a while. Even the Arkansas win, without all of those penalties, we don't have a chance to win.
The interim has been there all season and has the better players. He should win
We had an interim take over with a back-up QB in 2017 and take down a Heisman type guy
We had an interim take over in 2022 and beat a better Iowa team with a top D
Interim's usually do pretty well because they have been there
Agree on all that.
The interim's HC experience is getting in a fight with his OL coach in NY.
Interim's experience is challenging an NFL play that cannot be challenged .
Comparing an interim in a bowl game v. an interim with a college football playoff on the line, is different. Pressure affects it.
How will this interim handle this pressure.
They have way more to lose than we do with an interim.
That is in no way, shape, or form true. There is an art to calling plays. Guys have to be able to process whats going on and make split second decisions with a clock running. You have to think a number of plays ahead also. You have to adjust on the fly- possession to possession depending on what defenses are doing, injuries to your team as well as the other team, field position, ball placement on each hash, etc. You have to have the correct gut feelings multiple times per game.
Playcalling is the toughest thing a coach does
