who missed a block on the guy that drilled blake?
Y?all are both wrong.
He was throwing to the deep route. It?s a camera shot from behind showing he never looked at the underneath route.
We didn?t miss a block. They ran a delayed blitz on the outside edge and it confused Blake hence the reason for the pick. The dlineman was lined up over the center in a 5 down lineman front. He faked rushing and dropped into coverage replacing the blitzing linebacker off the edge.
Nice d playcall on their part. Terrible lack of a read on Blake?s part. He locked in on the outside receiver and never checked up on the snap.
And then delivered it late and underthrown by 28 yards.

Here's the still at the time of the pass. That ball wasn't gonna be near any state wr. Look at this pic and rewatch the play
Let?s play a game. What is the defensive read pre snap? What is the coverage read at the pre snap? What does the defense actually run?
I thought he was going for the outside receiver too. I thought it might be a miscommunication between Shapen and the receiver but to my understanding of the offense the receiver did the right thing because he wasn't capped based on what I could see from TV. It's almost like Shapen expected him to hitch up at 10 yards.
Look it started with his doing dumbshit call before that with the TimeOut. Heck every daddy coaching his PeeWee team knows what to do on that. But not States multi millionaire coach. And number 2 What if it was a completion 20 yds downfield and being tackled inbounds? Guess what students the fing clock would've run out because dumbshit had no timeouts
Not sure what the point of this post is. Fact is, when Shapen was tackled the play before, the clock was running with 28 seconds left. We should have lined up, ran a RUN PLAY to try to get a few more yards, then called timeout with 3 seconds left. No matter if the pass play was a quick out, a pass over the middle, a miscommunication etc, calling a timeout was the wrong call and after the timeout we should have ran a run it on 2nd down and and then spiked it on 3rd (28s should have been enough). As far as pinning blame on Shapen, the 3 missed wide open TD balls already pins plenty on him.
I believe his read was man on the boundary zone to the field. On the snap they moved into a cover 4 look.
The cb would have probably picked it off if the dlineman didn?t.
And for all you it was a throw in the middle of the field who gives a crap. You had 25 plus seconds left in the snap and 3rd down. You kill the clock and roll out your fg team.
Here?s the deal if Kyle hadn?t made the 50 plus yarder against Southern everyone wouldn?t be so high on him. He has kicked extremely well but his two misses have come from 40 plus. So
Like Lebby said they feel comfortable inside a 40 yard fg with him. Hell that would be most coaches in college.
I get it we could have ran it and rolled the dice on a 45-50 yard fg to win it. But I understand them throwing with 25 plus seconds left with a 5th senior qb. He should know not to take a sack or throw an int.
