Why MSU can't fire Lebby

1 reason is who the heck are we going to get. Let's see probable coaching vacancies coming open. Definite new openings, PSU and Arky. Most probable Both Fla and Fla State, Just lost to Stanford, UNC, Kentucky. Probable and gaining steam LSU and USC, Michigan. That's 7 for sure and maybe more/ Lebby gets one more with conditions. Must hire a new Oline coach and a new QB Coach and maybe OC. All coaches must be able to develop and grow players. Right now on the Off side we have no one who is doing that. And he must take a college course on Critical thinking otherwise known as how not to make dumbshit calls. BTW how did BAMA close to Fl St???

Don't forget Auburn. Question: If you failed in all 16, (could be for Lebby), of your job assignments your first two years in a very high profile position would you be retained? We are in a big mess, again.

The problem I am having is that now I am seriously questioning Lebby’s intelligence and capabilities of being a head coach. I was somewhat concerned last year but gave him benefit of zero talent and installing his style/system in our program.

All season how many illegal formation penalties, how many offense linemen not able to block, unbelievable play calls last night and not only end game but also first half running KT and then doubling down coming back and running Shapen. Just a few examples.

Also #7 on our defense needs to be drug behind the team bus. This clown gave Fl. 30yrds of free yardage at one of the most critical points of the game all by himself.

I know we won’t fire a coach now. But we will be in the same situation next year trying to complete for a decent HC. None want to come here so if we get one it will have to be someone with baggage as we did hiring Jackie Sherrill and Leach. So probably another coordinator is in our future.

I feel like Im in the Twilight Zone. Can you guys not see the improvement? Can you not see the play designs that are getting guys wide open? Do you not see how our guys play hard every game even last year? This program was a dumpster fire in 2023-2024. Its a process to rebuild and the SEC is unforgiving.

We need to win a game or 2 down the stretch and make another move up next season. Lebby is learning on the job for sure. But I can see that he can coach just like I saw that Moorehead couldnt.

I'm with you. I was very verbal on this board about not wanting to hire Lebby. Me and several others. We were shouted down. I warmed up to him because he's a likable guy and I see drastic improvements over last year. However, clock management and some of his situational play calling is abysmal. And apparently we don't have a QB on our roster that can help us compete. Shapen certainly isn't it. KT doesn't know when to hand the ball to the running back instead of pulling it and running it himself. Apparently he can't be trusted to pass in a crucial game situation. Who knows whatever happened to Kro-Hawk.
We could have hired an experienced coach and went with a coordinator that Selmon was familiar with.
I'm not calling for firing him. We need stability more than anything. Kiffin is in what?? Year 6???
I'm just frustrated and venting a little.

I will say this. We are light years better than we were last year. Also, if Shapen makes just one decent pass to those wide open receivers yesterday we win easily. Still extremely frustrating.

Lebby is trying to turn chicken shit into chicken salad. JoMo had chicken salad and turned it into chicken shit.

If we hired an experienced head coach instead of Lebby we might be better off but who knows. I do believe there is more upside with Lebby. After the growing pains of being a head coach he might turn into a hell of a college football coach. I?d rather him figure it out here than at some other school. Then the same people bitching about getting rid of him would then be bitching about why did we let him go.

It was one of the dumbest play calls I can remember. But no way in hell you fire Lebby. The team has made tremendous progress. We will get over the hump soon.

Compare us to 2023. Are we better? Maybe a little bit, but not much. We can compare again after the Egg Bowl.

Compare us to 2022. We are lot worse.

Even if you don't want to blame Lebby at all for how awful we were in 2024, it's silly to use that year as a measuring stick.

Definitely frustrating. Shapen made an unbelievable throw to Thompson yesterday when he knew he was going to take a big hit. But he missed some gimmies yesterday.

Everyone wanted Hutzler fired last year. Lebby saw that he could coach and that has paid off.

I definitely agree on the upside comment. I think Lebby has the potential to get us into the expanded playoffs sometime in the next 3 years. We are 2 missed field goals from being 6-1. That is incredible given our budget and where we were last year. Fans have to be patient and everyone needs to get on board. There is no savior of the program out there. And I promise everyone it isn?t Dan Mullen.

It's really ѕhitty to blame the losses on Ferrie, who has been one of the bright spots this season, rather than Lebby and Shapen, who have far worse and more numerous examples of screwing up.

Most bad coaches would have this team 5-2 right now, and most good coaches would have the team 6-1.
