Where did we end up there? 15 or so?
While it is obvious that bringing in more talent will generally lead to success, that is a BIT of a cherry-picked stat that does not tell the whole picture.
Why did they stop at 7? Probably because 8 is Auburn, 9 is a disastrous UNC, and 10 is Kentucky. Also 14 is a bad Wisconsin, 15 is a very disappointing South Carolina, 16 is a weak Arkansas, 19 is a bad Colorado, and 20 is a disastrous UCLA.
The portal is absolutely important, and money does talk. But the results do not fully support the conclusion that tweet is trying to draw.
Doesn't prove anything yet. Just that all 7 on that list had pretty weak opponents for their first 4 games.
Texas Tech spent a lot of money in the portal and it appears to be paying off. They look like the best team in the Big 12 so far. The only game I could see them possibly losing is @ Arizona State. They do not play Iowa State this year. Florida State and Miami are by far the best two teams in the ACC. GT is a distant 3rd and then no one else is very good. Ironically, I think all 6 of those other teams are better than LSU and all top 15 teams. I am still not sold on LSU and I think they lose at least 4 games this year. Their first loss will be Saturday followed by aTm, Bama and OU.
