Ole Miss, Kentucky, and TAMU
We will not get any ?permanent? opponents. Because we?ve gotten permanent opponents before and they haven?t been permanent. These opponents will be permanent until they are not, which actually makes them temporary.
Ole Miss, Kentucky, and LSU
We getting Mississippi/Kentucky/A&M
I would prefer Auburn to aTm because if aTm gets the right coaching they could erupt into a giant where Auburn will always play back fiddle to Bama
This is correct, or it's at least what Jimbo Fisher announced a couple of years ago. It's possible that it's changed, but I bet it doesn't.
Ole Miss, Kentucky, and Texas A&M for us. If they change it, it would probably be to swap out Arkansas for Kentucky or Auburn for A&M.
This is my question. With Ole Miss having a lot of success the past few years, does that make them our top 8 opponent giving how they are supposed to make the schedules have some parity?
I'm just not sure how they are going about it as far as how far they are looking at teams.
Ole Miss having success could actually help us out with the schedule ironically.
I doubt it because there are 9 teams with traditionally stronger college football backgrounds than Ole Miss. I think they are picking the 8 teams based on overall historic success. The question moreso is which team out of the original Big 6 and aTm, Texas and OU gets bumped to the bottom 8
I've done this exercise a few times. Basic tenets I follow:
- top 8 vs. bottom 8 split. you get 2 of your group and one of the other. (i'll denote as diff)
- pick everyone's #1 first
- add in named #2 games (3rd Saturday in October, Deep South's Oldest Rivalry, etc.)
- TV Ratings
With that
Group 1: Bama, Texsa, Georgia, OU, Aggy, Florida, LSU, Auburn
Group 2: Tenn, OM, State, SCar, UK, Mizz, Vandy, Arky
Bama - Aub, Tenn (diff), LSU
Texsa - OU, Aggy, Arky (diff)
Georgia - Florida, SCar (diff), Auburn
OU - Texsa, Mizz (diff), Aggy
Aggy - Texsa, Vandy (diff), OU
Florida - Georgia, UK (diff), LSU
LSU - OM (diff), Bama, Florida
Auburn - Bama, Georgia, State (diff)
Tenn - Bama (diff), UK, Vandy
OM - State, LSU (diff), Arky
State - OM, Auburn (diff), UK
SCar - Georgia (diff), Mizz, Vandy
UK - Tenn, State, Florida (diff)
Mizz - OU (diff), Arky, SCar
Vandy - Tenn, SCar, Aggy (diff)
Arky - Texsa (diff), Mizz, OM
I do see them actually flipping to protect OU-LSU and make it Aggy-UF. But I hate that and went with what I want them to do instead.
Also can see us/Aggy and Vandy/Auburn swap.
It's going to be OM, Kentucky, A&M for us.
I can already tell you OM will be b******* and complaining when Vandy isn't one of their 3 permanent opponents. So that will be fun to watch.
Lol it's what ever the SEC wants it to mean.
And they need to make sure the following games happen within that parameter:
Bama - Auburn, Bama - Tenn, Auburn - Georgia, Tenn-Vandy, Tenn-UK, Georgia-Florida, SCar
Auburn-Georgia is the only game on there that isn't someone's first pic.
That means Auburn has to be in a group with Bama/Georgia. Georgia has to be in the same group as 2 of Florida/Auburn/SCar. Tenn has to be in the opposite group of Bama. Tenn has to be in the same group as UK and Vandy.
That means the only grouping split that works:
1 - Bama, Auburn, Georgia, UF or SCar
2 - Tenn, Vandy, UK, UF or SCar
Fill in the gaps around there. Florida in 1 and SCar in 2 makes more sense.
