Niceeee!
As long as we win by a fairly good margin Saturday I think we could be right around 24 or 25 before Tenn game.
This ride is already better than expected. I'll enjoy the rest of the way whatever the view.
I am a little bit surprised we aren't ranked now. We deserve to be IMO. Road win over an improved USM team, solid win over Arizona State that I think will do well in the Big 12, and an almost flawless victory over Alcorn.
Maybe you're right and a dominant win over UNI will get us ranked but we might have to beat Tennessee which is crazy to me to get ranked.
Too bad we ain't Notre Dame. 0-2 and still ranked. Ridiculous. ASU was #12 but after losing a close night game to us they were thrown completely off the poll. Pathetic.
If we put the wood to NIU we'll be ranked around #24. Having us ranked for the Tennessee game is good for a few thousand more viewers.

I think we're going to have a chip anyway. We haven't won a SEC game since 2023 and that was thanks to Zavion Thomas lining up wrong. Which was hilarious and also not.
I'm expecting another Arizona State type atmosphere especially if we are 4-0. And this will be Tennessee's first true road game of the year. I think it's going to be shootout.
Had we not had the years we've had the last 2 or 3 years I believe our own fans would look at this team differently even. This is one of the better teams we've had since the Mullen years. W and Ls might not be as high but take those years away and the expectations for this team would be out the roof. I'm hopeful we can get 7+. That should be our ongoing expectation as a program.
We are not a Top 25 team but we should be ranked in the top 25. It should be based on merit.
beat the orange vols and we will be ranked. lose to them and we won't be
I am not even discussing Georgia because they are probably the best team in the country and have a solid offense and defense, but it does seem interesting that the other teams on our SEC schedule have one of the other. Tenn, aTm, Ark, Mizzou and Ole Miss are strong offensively but have a lot of defensive weaknesses. Texas and Florida are both really poor offensively but probably have better defenses than the other 5. It will be interesting to see which type of team we match up better against. Hopefully we can win some shoot outs in the group of 5 with the good offenses. That would probably lead to our best chance at getting to 7 wins. Arizona State is probably the one team that falls in the middle (better defense than the first 5 but better offense than UF and Texas) so it's hard to say which we do better against.
Yeah. Oddly enough, we seem to be one of the more well rounded teams in the SEC in all phases of the game. But at the same time, I don't think we're like 1999/2018 defense exceptional on one side of the ball either.
And I think it's a case by case basis. I expect our defense to struggle more against Tennessee but I think they'll do OK against someone like Arkansas. Homefield will be a factor for us too. Like, I could see us losing to Arkansas in a one possession game because of something like that being the difference.
If we do really well this weekend again- that would be four pretty impressive performances in a row. I don't know how many times that has happened for MSU ever. I know it has happened before but it's still impressive.
