SEC - 12 teams are in the preseason top 25. That's almost half of the top 25 with the rest ranging from 38-71 in this order AR, KY, Vandy and State pulling up the rear at 71.

So, at the very top - I got Big ten until proven otherwise, the SEC is superior in all other areas but the gap has been closed. Teams like Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Nebraska and Minnesota are all getting better with NIL.
Some are even saying Penn State has the best team in the country this year. I am not, as I don't know but others have suggested it's Penn State's year.
There is one thing.. The Big Ten kicked butt in bowl season last year with 11 bowl wins but 3 of them came from OSU's title run. FYI Big Ten 5-1 vs SEC last year in bowl games.

USC beat A&M
Illinois beat South Carolina
Michigan beat Alabama
Only loss to the SEC by Big ten - Iowa lost to Missouri by a field goal
Not sure how much that matters but let's not forget that it happened. It's clear these are the best two
I think the top of the conferences are probably pretty equal, probably a slight edge to the SEC.
I think the middle teams are equal and I might even give a slight edge to the B10.
The difference though, I think the bottom of the SEC would win 6-8 games in the B10 whereas the bottom of the B10 would go winless in the SEC.
Well, we definitely aren't helping the SEC's cause at the moment.
not so simple to me. At the very top it's clear the Big Ten is better. They have the last two national titles and have 4 teams that could win it any given year. Right now the SEC still has more talent top to bottom but the best teams have been in the Big Ten the last couple years.Quote:

18 teams have recruited over 50% blue chip players. SEC has 9 with two others almost at the 50% mark in Ole MIss and Gamecocks. Big Ten has 5 ACC 3 and Notre Dame... That's it' That's all the teams with enough talent to win a title but SEC has 9 teams and 2 more that almost meet the criteria.

There is nothing right now to suggest USC is a contender. Penn State technically is but has not shown they can actually compete at the top. And Michigan is not anymore until they prove it with the new coach. They have Ohio State and Oregon until proven otherwise.Quote:
