Agreed, losing is one thing but we've had some home blow out losses and that is concerning
But don?t forget we beat Auburn and Tennessee last year!!
Hoping we are one of those teams that finds it towards the end of the year and come together at the right time but right now we do not even look like a tourney team.
First 15 games we looked like one of the best teams in the country. Starting with the UK loss, in which we actually outplayed them and should have won, it felt like it broke the confidence and chemistry we had been playing with up to that point.
Hubbard has not been who he was supposed to be this year and it has really hurt us especially considering Jans built this roster around him being that guy. Hubbard is kind of a liability honestly.
And Melendez, Kugel, Harris and a horrendous Cam are in really bad funks right now.
I think we have the ability to get it all back together and there is still time in the season but it has to start coming soon.
I see one of two things happening. We get a big win soon and start to build some momentum back heading into SECT and NCAA or we completely implode and lose the next 4, which is very possible. Good chance we are underdogs in next 4.
The last 5 games Hubb has been the only player worth a crap. Every other player has disappeared/ Something else is going on that Jans needs to stamp out. The team has quit playing like a team and playing like butthurt junior high kids who are pissed they don't get the ball enough.
We certainly need to improve. We certainly have issues. There are certainly concerns. But Hubbard isn't a "liability". If he was a liability he should sit on the bench with Jeremy Foumena and Harrison Alexander. Hubbard needs to be part of the solution. He needs to do some things better no doubt. But he's far from a liability. We don't magically become better when he is on the bench.
That seems to be the problem. We don't seem to know what the hell we're doing. I really think it's time to end the Cam Matthews experiment. What are we really losing? Start Hubbard, Harris, Kugel, Murphy, and Nwoko from here on out. Melendez and Matthews have given us just about nothing the last 5-7 games. At least I know that spreads the floor with 4 guys who are actually a threat to make a jumpshot.
why do others kill us from the 3. Hub is 5'9" he can't guard. then we double the post and a skip pass to a wide open 3 point shooter.
In the end it all falls in the lap of the $4,000,000 man.
The team I saw (up close and in person) against Memphis is a totally different team than what we have now. They played hard and they played for each other. Something has happened...could there be a split over the Clary "situation"?
I've seen several posters defend Jan's coaching performance this year when criticized w/ those very games from last year like that makes a difference.
He doesn't deserve to be fired obviously but it's seems like he has lost the fanbase as quickly as he built it this season and it looks like he is barely holding on to this team currently.
Meanwhile the announcers in last nights game were on repeat saying how he could take over any team and make them competitive day 1. I tend to agree but he certainly has flaws that are almost as detrimental. Non-existent 3pt D and poor FT shooting being at the top.
Murphy has been our only consistent player on offense and rebounding when it counts. Hubbard gets his average in many games on volume shooting( 5 of 15 last night and similar to other games this year), and when game is out of reach (last night) and is a liability on our switching offense. You can't change 5'11" in the loaded SEC. It's getting hard to watch.
