Most informative post I've ever read.
Based on what I've seen so far, we are going to be soooo much better than last season!!!!!!
OL appears competent. several receivers and a TE look better than average. Booth and Lee are satisfactory at RB, Shapen will be okay if given time(doesn't appear to be holding onto the ball much over 2 seconds on any play). I think the LB's will be better than average, the secondary has a few guys who seem to have good potential and the DL is the most lackluster position group on the whole team and I'm not sure there is much depth on the DL either. gonna be exciting to see
All the reports I've seen suggest everyone is undervaluing this team. Looks closer to a 9-3 team with an outside shot at 10-2. If all of our new players had signed with Alabama or Georgia they would have been rated 4 & 5 stars instead of 3 stars and "unrated"!
“We talking bout practice man”*********
I hope y’all are correct. I really do! My take away from spring game, I know it was spring game and that was a long time ago. Things have changed since then. But this is the only thing I’ve actually seen as far as live ball and practice.
1. QB looked serviceable able to drop some dimes down field which was refreshing to see. C+
2. Running backs looked above average. B
3. O line looked ok. C
4. Receivers looked fast enough to have break away speed. B-
5. D line looked somewhat less than I’m used to. C-
6. Linebackers were in my opinion the bright spot on defense. B
7. D ends were slow and that has to be fixed. D
8. Secondary was ok but need more practice. C-
Text I got- "offense will be decent. Defense will not."
I was trying to drop it a bit easier than that.........
Maybe our B+ Offense is making our C Defense look bad and the D will actually be serviceable enough to keep us in some SEC games.
I'm planning on traveling to a Bowl Game with the Dogs this Christmas even it it is because their APR gets them in at 5-7. I enjoy Bowl trips no matter where to. Tampa was fun. Nashville is always fun. Heck, even Fort Worth was fun. Memphis... you get what you make of it as long as you travel in packs!
Birmingham has lots of fun places to go, just so spread out and in pockets. I never made it to Charlotte but heard lots to do there even though the game was a blowout for a Dogs win. St. Pete was nice. Jacksonville.... not enough to do downtown unless the Alumni hosts a big event. Houston is huge with pockets of entertainment. Cotton Bowl was almost as cold as Liberty Bowl against Air Force which was the coldest I have ever been in the same stadium that a September game was the hottest I had ever been!
This is correct. Defense will not be good. Hopefully they will be opportunistic and create some turnovers. But I am afraid the lack of talent and depth on the defensive line and in the secondary, along with the fast pace by our offense, will result in our defense giving up a ton of points. Brace yourselves because it will not be pretty.
I think we will be close to our typical team. We could finish anywhere from 5-7 to 8-4. Likely landing around 6-6/7-5…which would be great for this team and coach. It would bode very well for the future of State while Lebby is here.
Having a terrible DL can affect everything. If the other team can just wear you down all game and keep your offense off the field you really do not have a chance.
