You'd think these coaches would learn to stop over throwing these top prospects. Hogland last night, Leiter today. If I'm a parent of either of these kids, their college pitching days are over.

It's always the dilemma with going after the big-time arms. It works in a lot of cases, but it also gives you tougher decisions, especially with the guys who were very highly thought of before they got to school. We got very little ultimately out of Ginn. Though it's been enormous for Vandy to have these 2 and paid off big time to have Rocker 2 years ago, if one of them has to be limited or shut down to preserve the arm, it will hurt them big at the end of the year.
You want these guys and really feel like you have to have at least one or two to really compete, but it's tough to manage and get the most out of them. It's not necessarily easier, but can be better to find the guy who can be a very good college pitcher with less pro upside who just wants to pitch non-stop and can be a workhorse.
This is why I 100% appreciate the way that Lemonis is managing our pictures. Huge huge recruiting tool too.
I wonder also how much the year long baseball cycle plays into all of this. With all of the travel ball, high school and showcases how often does a younger player get to rest his body and allow it to heal and have rest?
You guys are ripping on Vandy for doing what they've always done. Who has more titles and MLB pitchers? Them or us? Vandy knows what they're doing. That's why he's getting a rest.
Good points. But Counter point: just manage the guys. We have elite arm talent guys too in Bednar and sims. But we don't tax them. Bednar has not thrown 100 and I'm not sure he's thrown 90 more than once. We've under-thrown sims. And we babies Ginn's arm too honestly, he just got hurt.
I heard lemonis last week say we overthrew small in 2019 and he was tired by Omaha. He learned from that he said.
Vandy doesn't give full scholarships. Their general need based scholarship coves up to 3/4 of tuition, bringing the tuition down to what, 15K? That's not an advantage compared to us. Now Stanford does give full rides of your parents make less than 120k combined.
Did you read this somewhere? Bc Corbin said the exact opposite. And so does every article. The school looks at what a family can afford and subtracts that number from a full scholly, and then provides the remaining amount of scholly. So if your family can afford nothing, you get a full scholly.
And keep in mind on this second article, that the rule changed last year and now you can stack non athletic aid and athletic aid.

Correct, a lot of those baseball players are paying 0 dollars to go to school. Not sure where your 75% comes from
They have 5 players in each class that they subsidize financially to make sure the player can afford to go to there. The program ensures that no kid will be prevented from attending Vandy bc of finances. If that is a full ride, it's a full ride. If it's half, it's half. But they have the capability of 5 full rides each class if they need it.
As far as TJ, I don't know. You have the data on that?
I didn't realize we beat Leiter. His only loss!
