and the nail-biter vs ASU
College baseball got turned upside down this weekend.
#8 Auburn got swept by UCF this weekend
#9 Michigan lost 3 of 4 to UCONN
#1 Miami got swept by #2 Florida
#22 UNC lost 2 of 3 to Dallas Baptist
#25 Stanford is now 1-6 on the year
Why mention them, though? What does it matter?
The only reason Michigan Is getting the hype they are getting is because the college baseball publications are getting desperate for the success of a northern baseball team and they will promote Michigan all year even if they are just average. All Michigan did was get hot at the right time last year and the media think they can reciprocate it. They have below average talent and an above average coach and got good at the right time last year.
Their coach is very good and has scouting ties. Whether he can parlay that into big time success in the Big 10 remains to be seen because elite baseball prospects are going to want to play in an elite baseball conference- like the SEC, ACC, and Big 12. Recruits are not going to go to Michigan over Mississippi State unless they are from Detroit or something like that.
