6-7 in 2022
5-7 in 2023

Had a top 5 recruiting class that has dropped to 13th after losing three 4-star recruits and a high 3...rumors of a 5-star and another 4-star flip coming

Brutal 2024 schedule
Georgia rolling

Wonder what the next move is for Foley and Spurrier? The Florida job while a good one is not what their fans think it is. 2 SEC titles since 2001. None since Urban's 2nd in 2008. Those fools gonna be desperate next November

Only time I want to see him in Starkville is when we beat them in 2024 and put the final nail in his coffin at FL. Afterward, he can smile all the way to the bank as another overpaid HC with a ridiculous contract and buyout. How much longer does "Loafers" stay employed at FL?

Never did want him and didn't want him to come. Got a bit off-put when it looked like (from posts here) that he actually was going to take the job.

Sunbelt Billy is set for life, I'm sure only his ego is slightly hurt until he sees his bank statement. Ms Sunbelt Billy is extremely happy, LOL

Either way, they won't let loafers make another hire after Dan and Billy he's done too.

They'll probably go after Kiffin.

Their first call will be Urban Meyer. After that, who knows. I am sure Kiffin will get a call, as will Stoops and Drinkwitz.

Their expectations are a bit too high. They want perfection (can't blame them, but there's a limit to how far to go). They're still living in the Urban era, much as we're still living in the Jackie and Mullen era.

Ole Miss barely scraped by a lot of games, but to their credit they did scrape by. I think they level back off next year to 8-4.

The Dan era was 7.1-4.9 over 9 seasons. That's attainable for us.

Yes it is for us, especially when presently 4 of the games are "cupcakes" and a win is expected. That only leaves 3 tougher games to win. Florida getting Urban-type numbers are a lot harder. But our team went down there one year and Mullen's team beat Urban's team.

You keep posting this but Mullen by the time he left turned us into a program that expected 8 wins. That's going to be tough moving forward

Florida has three games in Gainesville before us: Miami, Samford and Texas A&M. They could be 1-2 coming into Starkville. Maybe we have an electric night game where Lebby lets the SEC know he ain't ****ing around. Florida 1-3 after a rough night in Starkvegas and Sunbelt Billy may be told the university has decided to part ways.

Although I'll be honest- that Toledo game worries me a bit.

Opposite this scheduling "cycle" we're going to have two seasons where we play Kentucky, Vanderbilt, and South Carolina in the same season. Winning 8 games with that slate is very doable- just like it was in the late 1990's when Jackie consistently won 8 games.

I'm just not sure if the schedule switches to that in 2025 or 2026 for us. Either way it switches every four years.

1. I post it because it is a fact.
2. You make it sound like he had a year or two of getting it built and was then an 8-4 coach every year. Dan went 5-7 in year one (fine), 6-6 in year three (meh), 6-6 in year five (meh), 5-7 in year eight (woof). We may have expected 8-4 every year, but that wasn't reality.
3. But I agree our fanbase expected 8-4 yearly from Dan after he did it in year 2. We also expected 8-4 from leach at the time he died. You yourself expected at least 8-4 from arnett per your own words. I myself said 7-5/8-4. Point being, what we expect has little to do with reality and nothing to do with whether lebby can match dans 7.1-4.9.

wellllll, once again...Mullen went:

10-3 in 2014
9-4 in 2015
6-7 in 2016
9-4 in 2017 (Yes Knox coached the bowl game)
and the 2018 team he built Jovester achieved the floor of 8-5

Thats 42 wins over 5 seasons- 8.4 per

Mullen built that. That's not achievable anymore in today's version of college football for us

We are 4-5 vs Kentucky the last 9 years and will be about the same as SC while having at least 3-4 of the Big 8 on our schedule year after year

That has nothing to do with whether a coach can average Dan's 7.1-4.9, which was the only issue being discussed when you entered the chat. You don't get to not count 5 of a coach's 9 seasons when discussing said coach's win-loss record.

Also, using your metrics, leach averaged 8 wins here after year one, during today's version of CFB. That's more than Dan averaged after year one. And One more win would have been 8.5 average, better than Dan's best stretch. So when you say 8.4 is not possible, you're saying it's impossible for us to have beaten Memphis in 2021 to get to that 8.5 average.

So Stoops is going to be there forever? Odds are high the next time we play them they'll be on a down cycle while we trend up.

Which is what a lot of this is- catching teams when they're down. Happened to our benefit in the late 90's. Happened to Ole Miss's benefit the past two years.

You sound like a dramatic teenage girl.

Hire the right coach, and we're right back to being the 7-5 program we were under Dan and leach with a chance for more on an up year when you have a dynamic qb. It took Croom 2.0 for us to be below .500.

You might need to go to the gynecologist and get that looked at.
