If true that just goes to show speed can make up for a lot of lackings.

Here is the link. It is a paid wall but you get free 30 day look. If you have already used that free look just delete your browsing history and it starts over. I don't think the CL has figured that out. I have been getting the news free ever since they went to a paid wall.

High school average is different than college, pal.

That's still pretty damn small isn't it? 208 would have been closer to the smallest offensive lineman than the average at my high school when I was there and that was a small school. I would have assumed a place like Tupelo would average a good bit bigger than that.

We are talking 6A school. Hell that means they beat somebody who beat S. Panola and you know how big their line is. I think Tupelo is 13 and 1 due to the defense but heck their defensive line only averages 212.

Tupelo ' s team is tiny and is undersized is an understatement. If they win they have to be the smallest team in either 5A or 6A to wina championship.

Yea, but speed is where the game is going. I realize that big bulk up front moves the pile, but if the linemen aren't agile, they cannot adapt to the speed of defenses. I know someone who worked closely with the offensive line at state this year. He said the learning curve for getting the technique down was tough for the guys with a lack of foot speed.

I think lines are going to look a great deal differently in the future of college football.

As a side note, my pawpaw (grandfather) played center in high school at 160. Of course that was in the 1930's

The notre dame box made a great comeback in the early 1980's when north natchez ruled the state of Mississippi in football. They were one of the original dynasties. It required a team of agile linemen to pull off what was required.

They look like they average more than 208#.

I would be really surprised if that is accurate. You can have all the technique in the world, but at 210# you are not going to stand a chance against a decent 230-250# defensive lineman. Hell I played OL at Jackson Academy, and our average weight was 240-250#. I just have a hard time believing that is accurate.

Yea, based on the roster on their website, that definitely isn't right. I don't know who the starters are, but there isn't an OL listed at less than 220#........only 5 of the 15 OL are listed at less than 230# and there are 6 guys that are listed at over 250#.

I was just going by the interview and what the coach said but I do know this they never put the real weight and height in the program. They seem to make bigger then what they are.
