I don't want to hijack the other thread.

People are saying Chip Kelly might get canned. I ask why? He was bad in '18 and '19 2020 is what it is he finished 3-4, don't know what that year would have ended up being if it was a full season.

Since 2021 he was gone
8-4 no bowl game. Did they cancel the bowl due to Covid?
9-4
And this year looking down the barrel at a possible 9-4 year.

He is trending the right way. Why are they looking to drop him?

That's potential 26-12 in the last three seasons.

There's no Chip Kelly smoke whatsoever. That's why they want to change before the move.
Hes been disappointing and is getting up in age a little. With college football changing, schools are going to be nearly as patient.

His offense worked really well when only about 15% of programs were running it and he had the talent advantage against almost everyone he played. Now that he does not have a talent advantage and almost everyone runs some version of the hurry up spread offense he just is not as effective.

Last 4 years national ranking in total offense...
2020 - 21st
2021 - 30th
2022 - 4th
2023 - 43rd

He's been pretty solid offensively

He is still solid. But go back to those Oregon teams and see where they ranked. That is what UCLA thought they were hiring.

2010- 1st
2011- 3rd
2012- 2nd
2013- 4th
2014- 4th

Because UCLA thought he would deliver the success of his Oregon tenure and it hasn't come close.

He's not my first choice, but we could do a lot worse.

UCLA has the west coast version of little brother syndrome/ They always are looking to beat USC.

Really Clark?

There is no smoke of him coming here as of today.

I'm not sure what UCLA expects when they don't invest into the program.

I thought Jim Morrison left his royalty check to the UCLA athletic fund** They do have a large Hollywood Alumni pool though.

I get that but if you were going to can him they should have done it after 2020 he was in the middle of his 5 year deal, they would have paid out two more years on a 23.3 million contract. It just doesn't make sense at this time.
