Sorry a long read but IMHO what some MSU fans fail to understand:

1. If Dan Mullen is hired, does he have any new connections to pull any new, young/fresh idea OCs & DCs or will he just bring back the same 2009 era, old, boring country club staff (his yes men) with no modern era CFB in terms of OC & DC schemes/recruiting/social media/transfer portal and NIL? If Mullen expects to use the same recipe in 2024 as he did from 2009-2017, AD SELMAN WOULD BE MAKING A HUGE MONUMENTAL MISTAKE!!! The game has changed but will/can Mullen adapt? I doubt it.

2. AD Selman should hire an established head coach w/min 4 years HC experience with a track record of performance of working in modern era CFB in terms of their running/passing schemes/savvy in social media/transfer portal/NIL since 2020 or 2019 at the latest. In addition, be well-connected enough and not scared to hire the talented up-and-comers like GJ Kinne, Kendall Briles, Kane Wommack, UNLV OC (can't remember his name but works under Barry Odom).

3. DO NOT HIRE A HEAD COACH at his position since 2018 or 2017 or later in history. Why? because most 2018 and later HCs have old expired methods/traditional/stubborn/set in their ways mindsets with tendencies to not adapt, not change and scared of the transfer portal & NIL, for ex. Jimbo, Mark Stoops, Malzhan, Bob Stoops and Dabo (others not named Nick Saban) or other coaches who've been fired or retired or working as analyst under Saban or Carroll, etc. Now, if they are 2018 or older but still have fire, have new connections to younger coaches, track record of performance since 2020 in social media/portal/NIL and an ability to change/adapt then OK fine, but they must check these boxes.

4. We need a confident/positive/slightly arrogant/established HC who likes (or acts like it) the modern era of CFB (since 2020) with updated connections to hire a GJ Kinne type as their OC or the next Zach Arnett type as their DC or Kane Wommack as their DC. The younger/hungry/up-and-coming coaches want to work for established head coaches to gain experience and provide a safety net while they test their ideas/schemes in the SEC. GJ Kinne or Jeff Lebby (definitely) might not be ready yet, but if hired by an established head coach like Lance Leipold or Klein or Fritz, they have the time to test the waters of coaching in the SEC environment like the relationship between Saban & Kirby or Pete Carroll & Sark/Kiffen or Leach & Sunny Dykes. This allows us to have our cake and eat it too b/c we can get multiple good hires off our Leaderboard List that have made the rounds this week.

5. Selman should stay away from hiring the young/hungry OC or DC and attempt OJT in the SEC & try to change them into SEC head coaches right now, but who might not ready yet (ex. Joe Mo). Yes, I know Mullen did it (but it was the non-portal/non-NIL era) but he's the exception and not the rule.

6. I wish Selman could hire a "dream team staff" with an established/experienced/stable head coach like Leipold or Klien or Fritz but in the interview process, Selman MUST require the head coach to have the new connections to pull the talented, young guns who have thrived in working in the modern era of CFB.
