1. Improves our probability of winning the last 2 games. Probably we beat USM and lose to Ole Miss regardless of whether it's Arnett or an interim, but the probabilities aren't literally 100% or 0%, and I'm very confident that that percentage is higher without Arnett than with him. His whole attitude is a cancer on our program, no energy or excitement around it at all. Let Barbay air it out the last 2 games and see what happens without Arnett tinkering and interfering the whole time.

2. It proves that we really are going to fire him. Although our fans overwhelmingly want Arnett not to return in 2024, we won't know for sure if that's happening or not until he's actually fired. There's a great sense of apprehension and dread within the fanbase that doesn't go away until he's actually fired. Pulling that trigger today takes a huge weight off all of our shoulders.

3. Firing him today prevents any chance of him talking his way back into the job. Remember 2019? Remember how everyone wanted Moorhead fired, and then we won the Egg Bowl and suddenly Keenum and some boosters got cold feet? It's not likely, but it's not impossible that could happen again. Better to make the clean break today.

4. The fans overwhelming want him fired today and not coach the last 2 games. Ultimately, this is entertainment, and what the fans want matters. It's up to our athletic department to make the fans happy. And even if they don't care so much about that, firing him today increases the attendance against USM and to some extent Ole Miss, which is better for the program too.

Don't let anyone tell you it doesn't make a difference if we fire him now or later, because there are 4 great reasons why it does. There are probably more.

lol- so firing him today is about the insecurity of our fans. Gotcha.
