This is a pretty tough opener, I like our team but we are without Shak, Tolu and Murphy.

Luckily we are alot deeper this year. Josh Hubbard and Andrew Taylor can help us with Shak's absence. Replacing Tolu is the hardest thing but Jimmy Bell, Chol and even Cam Matthews will all play at the 5 some. I like Jaquan Scott too at the 4 position he played well against USM we will need him some in the post and on the glass

Agreed. Even Choi doesn’t look lost. We have a HUGE set of bodies that we can throw at people and Cam and DJ are big and athletic with huge wingspans. This is a disruptive team and when they get some rhythm going they could be dangerous

Hell of a first game by this lot. Love the depth. Love the D. And obviously love the shooting. We actually hit those wide open corner shots tonight; last year those were air-mailed. Was also impressed with our passing....for the most part, we really moved the ball well.

Possibly. I'm hoping Trey Fort is as good as he looked last night, we need shooting badly on this team and his shot looked picture perfect. He and Jaquan Scott were the #1 and #2 rated Juco players in the nation coming in so hopefully his ranking was correct.

As for Taylor, it's hard to tell after one game what we have with him. I don't see him scoring anywhere close to 20 ppg like he did at Marshal but I'm hoping we can get 8 to 10 ppg and around 3 assist.

I agree with this 100%. I like both guys, and both can help us. But it's just one game. Fort isn't going to shoot 50% on 3 pointers for the year while averaging 20. Taylor isn't going to go o-fer every game. They both can play.

Our depth is really nice. We didn't have Murphy, Tolu, or Shak Moore. We will have some depth. Jans really added some nice pieces in Taylor, Fort, Bell, and Hubbard. I'm really high on this team for this season.

I will say that looking at our roster and assuming we can get everyone back healthy, I think one of the biggest challenges that Jans will face is how to distribute playing time and roles. We are going to have some guys who may not get the minutes they think they deserve. We could realistically play 12 guys and that is just too many. As SEC play approaches and playing time gets trimmed back for some guys, balancing the locker room will be a challenge.

You could make a case for important contributions from Jeffries, Tolu, Shak Moore, Matthews, Shawn Jones, Fort, Davis, Murphy, Hubbard, Bell, Scott, and Taylor. That is 12 guys. Some will think they deserve 22 minutes and will only get 10 minutes. Others will be like my wife and think they deserve 8 minutes but are lucky to get 2 minutes. That doesn't include Adrian Myers, Harrison Alexander, Martavious Russell, Isaac Stansbury, Trey Jackson, or Gai Choi (6 that I don't expect anything from at this point).

DJ again had a very poor game shooting/scoring. He is a beast on D and the boards most games. He is still the last player on our roster (and I know little about some of them), that I want taking a desperation shot from outside as the clock runs out!
