I remember going to my high school track coach asking if I could try out. He told me they did have a position for a Javelin Catcher!

I really thought the tourney was a given with him back, now its possible he won't be back until February? I mean what did we ever really do to the sports gods except win one national title in baseball, which then the sports gods decided to take a little bit of that away by letting the gosh damn bears (who totally didn't deserve it) win one the very next year?

I mean what the hell.

Exactly. They used that word (during) for a reason. I expect that means we're hopeful for the beginning of February.

I hate to lose him! But I think we will be ok without him during OOC play. We are alot deeper than we were last year especially on the perimeter. Tolu's will definitely be needed come SEC play especially offensively. But in the meantime we have:

Jimmy Bell 6'10" he started at WVU last season.. doesn't have crazy numbers but will defend and be a presence

Gai Chol 6'11" at one point this summer Jans said he was a little ahead of where they expected so he can hopefully give valuable minutes

Cam Matthews only 6'7" but a freak athlete and can gaurd 5's

Jaquan Scott 6'8" provides some size and rebounding

Dj Jeffries 6'7" who actually plays good defense

Those 5 will have to play some 4 and 5.... unfortunately Keyshawn Murphy is also hurt so he won't be available... we do have alot of perimeter scoring with Shak, Davis, Fort, Hubbard, Taylor, Russell so I feel like we are deep enough to still make noise early and be ok until SEC play

It stinks for sure, but hopefully we use it to develop those bench guys more for later in the year.

If it makes you feel any better, the SEC regular season extends into March, so he may not be back until after February.

Amazing because you have heard what his injury is, and think that would be amazing recovery time? Or just amazing in that it'd be so much better than the worst case scenario left open by returning "during the SEC schedule".

I've really been looking forward to basketball season. Even more since football has sucked. Hopefully some guys will step up. Good to hear positive reports on Bell.

Don't give up in the basketball team yet. Yes we will miss Tolu but we have some depth on the basketball team and added some scoring at other positions. We will be ready to start the season and Tolu will be back when SEC play starts which is where we need him most.

I know the competition wasn't the greatest overseas but Tolu didn't do much until the last game but other guys showed they could step up and score, I expect the same thing until he returns

Sorry, "amazing" asin I'm looking for some kind of good news because we sure need it. I don't know the specifics of the injury.

He's been hurt a few times while at State.. thats why it's always important to recruit quality depth especially in the paint because big men don't come a dime a dozen like gaurds do
