Because he is one of the worst clutch players in the league. And the angels put 4-5 guys on waivers because they suck

The Angels used a loophole to put a ton of their good, but not great, players on waivers so that other teams would pick them up and take on their contracts. Saves the Angels about $10-$20M in a season where they aren't going to make the playoffs. It's a smart business move, but really messes up the balance of power right ahead of the playoffs.

Because his typical stat line is 0 - 4 with at least 3 K's. Right now hitting .240 and will struggle to keep it that high the rest of the season. Great arm in RF, but just has never been able to hit a curveball.
