Current forecast is for it to be a category one at landfall, but seeing some suggestions it may undergo rapid intensification as it moves towards FL.

We got a notice this morning to pack and prepare to deploy to mobile or Jacksonville Florida. Emergency management thinks this may be a monster storm.

Starkvegasdawg, what are your predictions for Tampa ? Predictions are still somewhat varied here locally. We just flew in from Syracuse last night into this . I would love to hear your take .

Tampa should miss the worst as it looks now as the eye should make landfall between Tallahassee and Gainesville. However, you will on the eastern side so as feeder bands move across the Tampa area you could be potentially dealing with a tornado threat. You never know how prolific a tornado produce a tropical system is going to be ahead of time. It just has to play out.

Some are predicting Idalia to be a category 3 when it hits between Tampa and the Georgia line. My brother called it quits last year from living in Florida because of the hurricanes, looks like a wise choice.

Currently in the Glynn County EOC for our afternoon briefing. Somehow I've been elevated back into our City IRT after I thought I had escaped it. Gonna be a long week.

Just got to hope it moves through the gulf rapidly and gets on land. If it stalls any, watch out. Those water temps are hot
