He's a WR. He left Arkansas State and Colorado because he wanted to play WR not TE.

You can get a waiver. Considering he didn't play a down for Colorado, I think it's likely he gets that waiver.

I hope you're right, but the 247 mods seem to disagree

Our old friend and coach Tim Brewster had some pointed words about Ziko. It tend to trust coaches. Hopefully Ziko has learned something from sitting in the transfer portal. This is a great opportunity for him if he grasps it.

I doubt the NCAA will make him sit out a year since it doesn?t look like he ever played at CU.

Interesting thing, aTm can pull players from every team in the country, with millions of dollars, but this kid can?t transfer from a school he never played at?

I am not a lawyer or compliance officer but I would absolutely use the fact that a coach talked negatively about him to the media before he had even played a down of football as a reason why he may have felt uncomfortable at this new team. I am not saying it is right or wrong but I could see how a player would no longer trust their position coach when they take criticism public like that.

He and us have already been told that he is not getting waiver. Does the NCAA change their mind, who knows, but as of today we have been told he will have to sit a year and a waiver will not be granted.

This make no sense at all, considering all the players that have gotten waivers already.

Saw an article earlier this week that said the ncaa had clamped down on waivers over the past year and they have rejecting most - the whole point of the 1 free transfer was to curtail waivers

Well if he doesnt play in 23 he will never play here either. No kid is going to earn his keep and do it the right way when they see how its being done now, I take that back, only the really good ones will

Because he is the top player in the portal, we will need WR depth next year anyway and if he ever agrees to becoming a TE, he couple be a high draft pick at that position. Huge potential there

Yep. Good chance we lose Robinson early and Tulu, Roberson, and Walley are all seniors.

We're going to be pretty young in 2024 unless we add a ton in the portal.

Damn that is a lot of negativity directed towards a young man I bet you have never before.

He transferred from Ark State because he knew he would get more NFL looks against better competition. He got to Colorado and transferred along with the other 50 players that decided they didn?t want what Coach Prime was preaching. It makes sense to me.

How do you "pay your dues" and "earn your keep" before seeing the field?

Well in sports, this often refers to blood, sweat, and tears... workouts, practicing, being on the "practice squad" only, and being a practice dummy. It can be pretty tough at the college level.

Kid has to do all this for the next 14 months just to hope he gets a shot to play after that.

I enjoy Bucky w football talk. Baseball he should basicallly never post. His only issue is his allegiance to Will and Will has never had a bad game or is it his fault. Like he's blind. Look people have bad games. I.e. egg bowl for will. But Bucky won't have it. Wasn't his fault he turned it over 3 times and ran backwards to be sack for major losses ( and yes the line led to the sacks, Will turned them into 10,15 yard losses. )

Hate to say it but I understand if a waiver is not allowed. We would not want someone to transfer in to test the waters during spring practice and then transfer right back out. That would set a crazy precedent.

I AM glad we took him though. It's nice to have studs in waiting.
