Means far less than it used to but your odds certainly increase at retaining them once they've signed. I hear you though. For instance, I was excited to get Isaac Smith last year. If he blows up this year, then what though? Ha. Kind of makes more sense to get excited about Khaumari Rogers and Radar Jones. At least they are here, in theory, until grad transfer.

I think it does. It's a hassle to transfer- paperwork, new dorms, new staff, no friends, etc. If you enjoy your time at State at all just not having to leave is worth something, thus we probably don't need to do a 100% NIL match to their other offers to keep them. It's a lot like retain an employee that way- if they want to stay you don't necessarily need a full match to keep them.

Moreover, many kids don't want to play those games in the first place. Even if they blow up, they won't enter the portal and demand NIL from us to stay.

Say we sign 3 HS kids and they both blow in college. 1 enters the portal, get a high bid, and leaves. the 2nd enters the Portal, gets a high bid, but likes State and stays after we offer 90% of his highest bid. The other stays with no drama because he's all Dawg and wants to help the team. So in the end, we'd keep 2 really good players for less than half their cost if we went into the Portal and bought 2 similar players. AND we'd have gotten a season from all 3 for cheap as they blew up. So you definitely want to stack these HS classes with talent even though not all of them will play their last season in Maroon

i have this good feeling about Arnett. he reminds me of Saban with his intensity. Now i am not saying he is Saban but his desire to win and his relentless nature is a good vibe. I am going out on a limb and say we hit a major homerun putting him in as head coach. i expect 9 wins this season.

Yeah I know they got folks in media more than MSU but it is even more than that. Even past MSU beat writters wouldn't talk good about us. Speaking of that, when is MSU going to get a baseball guy? OM even got Delushi in there, with our history it is ridiculous. With so many NFL alumni success, we deserve one there too.

I do think the narrative is changing slowly for us but it shouldn't be that way. The announcer calling the spring game called us DL U which is fitting.
