Any thoughts on what ours will be?

So I?m going to predict this schedule
@ole miss
@kentucky
Home vs Tennessee
Home vs Arkansas
@alabama
Home vs Vanderbilt
@ Oklahoma
Home vs Texas A&M

confucius say

I will be interested to see if there is any rhyme or reason to it. Meaning, do we get more "bottom 8" games than "top 8" games since we are considered a bottom 8 school.

I believe it but it?s hard to make the schedule with 4 home and 4 away without making one of those teams play at the same place 2 times in a row. But hell you right, the sec made us play @ UGA twice in a row

We're playing Oklahoma year 1

There?s a few matchups already being ? spoiled? before tonight

Texas vs Florida
Georgia vs Alabama
Texas vs ole miss
State vs Oklahoma

confucius say
06-14-2023, 12:26 PM
Who are the permanents?

State-Mississippi
Bama-auburn
Uga-Fla
Texas-Ok

That leaves 8:
UK-TN
Vandy-USCe
LSU-Aggie
Mizzou-Ark

Sound right?

I like Texas vs aTm more than Texas vs OU, but I'm probably in the minority.

I'd be good with that. But I don't think the league will do that. Bjork is already crying about Texas being in the league.

I'd rather play Oklahoma than Texas. Still don't think we are lucky enough to get Vandy.

I just want our 125 year or so streak of playing bama to end. Surely, the dead Indians have had their ton of flesh for whatever we did to get that!***

This wouldn't surprise me one bit as I haven't seen evidence of us having an AD.

I haven?t seen any evidence either, other than Foxall. But that would be it.

Other than Georgia on the road, that doesn't seem bad for an SEC schedule. No Bama or LSU

Somebody post last years schedule and compare it to 2024. I don't think it can get much tougher than 2022.

CaptainObvious
06-14-2023, 06:25 PM
That is a 3-5 schedule for MSU and everybody should know that. State will not win any of those road games and they will not beat Florida.

You can mark this prediction and pull it back up in December 2024.

4 opponents are the same. 2024 has tenn texas fla and mizz. 2022 had bama lsu auburn and Kentucky. 2024 is easier.

I've long said getting rid of divisions and staying at 8 games, even adding OK and Texas, won't be any harder for us than what we usually have

Florida sucks right now. If we had them at home this year we'd be favored by a TD right now.

Now we lose a ton after this year, so 2024 could be tough regardless of who we play. But Florida sucks right now. Fixing to be 5-7 for second straight year.

Texas A&M- we beat then more often than not. 60% win chance

Arkansas- always play them close home or away. Home gives us the edge. 60% win
Florida- they are a mess right now. Country Club crutin ruined their talent level and Napier doesn't use the Portal. Another 5-7/6-6 season and they'll have. A new HC. Till Napier proves something this is a 70% win.
Missouri- obvious W.
At Ole Miss- definitely of a 50/50 game regardless of where it's played
at Georgia- L
at Tennessee-L
at Texas. They are the same as A&M.. big money boosters that buys stars but meddle in the program and prevent a good culture. Players think they're hot sh*t and don't have to show up to beat teams like us. If they overlook us or play soft well dominate the trenches like we do A&M.

I see 6-2 as the absolute ceiling, but we won't get there. I got us 4-4. Split Texas teams, win 2/3 between Florida Arky and OM, beat Mizzou.

2024 will be pretty rough. Probably a rebuilding year with a tough ass schedule. I'll be pleased with 7-5 with that schedule and an entirely new offensive personnel

I'm happy with this new scheduling format.

It sucked having to play Alabama, LSU, and Auburn every single year going back to that what? 40's? 50's?

Not that playing Tennesse, Florida, or Georgia is easier- but at least they're different teams. We get to play every team in Starkville at least once every four years. Sign me up for that. I wish we did that when I was a student at MSU. I would have liked that as a fan.

Keeping the Egg Bowl every year was never a worry- just want it off of Thanksgiving. Just creates a weird environment.

Playing in the SEC is never easy but I feel like this schedule format gives us a better chance to catch a group of teams that are "down" than the one where we had to play Nick Saban every year and LSU every year. I'm hoping we'll have more 1999 type seasons with this format.

Next cycle we get Ole Miss, Alabama, LSU, Auburn, and Oklahoma but then we also get Vanderbilt, Kentucky, and South Carolina. Depending on where we play the games that's not too bad and certainly not easy.

Lord McBuckethead

That's pretty brutal.

You can hardly make out an 8 game SEC schedule without it being brutal. Sure take off GA and put KY and take off UF and put Vandy there and it would be much easier.
But better than having Alabama, OK, TX, TN, GA LSU.
