This is an odd time of year seeing this rough weather coming through, huh? What’s the mechanism behind it, SVD?

…and not for nothing, but I think you and the Mods should get together and create your own weather forum here on the BB that we can go to. There is no doubt that you have saved lives and property with your reports here. Keep up the good work bud.

It's best the weather stuff stay on the main forum. His info is good and many people are looking for it.. Traffic is horrible to other parts of the forum.

Our team stats guru said last night the last time we had a mod risk in MS in June was 2014 so definitely not our typical weather pattern. My best guess as to why it is happening is we haven't gotten locked in our typical summer pattern with a strong high pressure near Bermuda putting us under southerly flow and shunting the jet steam to the central and northern Plains. Since we are still in a quasi-spring pattern storm systems are still able to dig down far enough to affect us.

Also, there are multiple severe chances still to come later this week. Today isn't the last of it. This is just the strongest one of the week as it appears now. Thursday, Friday, and Sunday also have severe risks outlined for various parts of the state.

Last Saturday evening in Madison, MS was bad. Straight line winds did a lot of damage - many trees down and power outages.

I hope we do not have anything like that again.

That was wicked. Some areas in Madison did not get power restored until noon on Monday.

There's been a severe risk every day since last Saturday. We're looking literally at an entire week of threats every single day. You don't even see this in early spring, and sure as hell not in mid-June.

Dang, another severe thunderstorm cell came through Madison, MS at 5:30 this morning. Heavy rain, strong winds, I have fence damage, and tons of lightning!

When is this garbage supposed to be out of here?
