Imagine if the Wuhan Bioweapons Lab had not released a flu that killed HackerDog.

Lemons might be sitting on 2 National Titles.

The 2020 Roster had:

(1) 1st Rounder - Westburg
(2) 1st Rounder - Foscue
(3) Christian MacLeod the unhittable All American version
(4) 1st Rounder Bednar
(5) Rowdey
(6) Future SEC POY - Tanner Allen
(7) Landon Sims
(8) Houston Harding
(9) War Horse version of Spencer Price
(10) The line drive version of Josh Hatcher

JT Ginn on the team but injured

Wuhan Virus, like Pear Harbor in 1941 has costed MSU dynasties

Yeah you never know. I thought about that a while back. We certainly had the potential to win it that year.

Tanner was done for the year so you can take him off the rest of the season, had their been one.

I've often thought about that we only got one year each from Bednar and sims. Pain.

That was a weird first month of the season. We definitely had talent on that team but it was super raw. I remember we lost to Texas Southern and got worked by Long Beach State in the span of a few days and everyone had a meltdown. But the two Texas Tech wins seemed to convince people we were rolling again, well at least for a few hours until the world shut down.

To be fair, we are only of several teams that thought COVID cost them a championship. Ole Miss fans were UNBEARABLE about it.

Hah, yeah everyone can claim they were a NC team in a year that was cancelled.

The fact that we went to CWS two years prior and won NC year after is pretty strong evidence that we were a contender. No one else can claim that so we got the best claim to that.

Tanner Allen, Rowdey Jordan would've been drafted and left after 2020. But that 2020 team was loaded

What was his injury?

I'm claiming Two Championships.

Someone below argues that Rowdey and Tanner Allen leave after 2020 with the Ship. But TA would have only played 2.5 months with his foot injury. Rowdy would have been drafted too low to go.

The guys that would have never appeared are Tullar and Fristoe, they would have been drafted.

Also OM loses the gimp Kid. And Vandy loses Rocker, so it all equals out.

Lemons would be wearing two rings while flipping-us-off from his lucky bucket

Baseball Championships are more about who is hot vs. who is the best.

THIS… It is hardly ever the most talented team.

We?ll do anything to justify keeping Lemonis.

I'm not sure I saw any in this thread about keeping Lemo. Winning big in 2020 have nothing to do with keeping him now because we didn't. This is a hypothetical thread.

If he did have two NC in a row and MSU had 4 straight CWS appearances, Lemo would get another year for sure. But he is getting one anyway so strap on your seatbeat for turbulence next year.

Please. No. We are not the UCF Knights.

And us in 1989

Yeah. Tennessee was by far the best team last year.

And us in 1989

You guys are going pop up crazy...

What makes you all think MSU was going to be the #1 seed in 2020 regionals? That year Vandy had the battleship roster Austin Martin, Rocker, Leiter, and company. Ole Miss had Hoglund and Booger. Louisville was preseason #1 with two number 1 picks and the #1 overall pick for 2021. Florida was #1 at last poll. Arkansas had a golden spikes guy to challenge Austin Martin. UGA was loaded too.

Plus MSU was ranked 12-to-15 when the last poll happened. So no worries about being the accursed #1 Seed. MSU was Heading to Regional Host, for sure. Perfect dark horse, with players that did win the championship in 2021.

MSU wins their regional to face #1 overall seed Ole Miss in Supers, then sweeps in two games. Shutout by MacLeod and a Gem by Bednar. Tanner Allen just plays as DH in the Regionals coming back from foot injury. The Coke Guy drinks Draino on live TV.

Then to Omaha with Vandy and Louisville with all the Gannett papers saying Vandy are the best and MSU only has 1000:1 odds. When MSU wins it all, Gannett Pravda runs the headlines, "2020 College Baseball ends Ole Miss on top of last Regular Season Poll, Omaha is just a prize for Hot, Streaky Teams"

Not sure why you chose to make this response to "us". I never once said anything about us being the number 1 seed. I just stated that Tennessee was the best team last year. Cujo said that we were the best in 1989. Strange post.

Yes... but the odds of getting "hot" does seem to correlate closely to having good players, doesn't it?

Without SEC POY TA would we have won it all? Without MLB talent in Bednar and Sims would we have been "hot" enough to win?

Baseball has luck involved for sure, but recruiting and coaching affect the odds if that luck going your way

In the same thread, you have managed to argue that we would have likely won the 2020 championship and that we obviously were not the best team in 2020.

Impressive.

"The baseball championship that never happened"

MSU had great teams that did not win it all and some greats that never made Omaha.

Just saying that players that Did win it all, were denied a chance by wacky "Thriller" novel political circumstances.

If we could have a picked a better year for global chaos, 2009 would have been better, that was a bad year.

Just like Pearl Harbor happened when MSU football was ascendant. Evil timing.

Understood. It?s something of an interesting what if, although State is by no means in a position to claim that as a big loss for us specifically.

But saying Lemonis could be sitting on 2 titles? Please. Yeah, it?s possible. And extremely unlikely.
