When can we expect to see who is leaving and who new is being considered for a summer/fall spot?

Are we still over 85 on the roster?

I imagine we'll have at least 2 more WRs leave. May see another OL leave and we'll probably have someone in the defensive backfield leave. No inside info just an educated guess.

Figured Lucas Taylor would stick around but unfortunately things aren?t as they seemed with him.

Expect another couple WR to hit the road. Along with other kids who aren?t playing immediately.

If you leave as a freshman because you?re not starting, that?s just soft. I understand a junior or senior and being buried in the depth chart, but leaving after a year is absurd.

We have 12 slot players on the Spring roster and O has changed. I bet we have more than 2 hit portal. The 12 do not include WR's.

I don't really blame them to be honest. They have 4 years to play college football. Why waste two of them sitting behind people. If you can't get on the field then you can freely transfer where there is a better opportunity. You either have a chance to prove everyone wrong at the new stop or you'll prove them right. There's plenty of examples both ways.

Per April 25,2022, SI article only 54% of NCAA football players in 19/20 and 20/21 portals found a new college. Lots of educational scholarship opportunities being lost, but crickets from NCAA or courts on this.

Probably the top 5% of transfers are big name guys, for every Caleb Williams there are 2,000 Bobbys from Bugtussle. If the NCAA really cared about students they would fix this portal situation. As it is now though, its just a way for bigger schools to call guys up from the minors.

Four former State and three former OM players are on the USM Spring roster. New world with portal. Many don't want to wait even a year or two to play. Developmental building of programs and finding over looked JC players is about gone. Most of our players go down in level to play with the exceptions being RaRa, Robertson, and Johnson and time will tell on them. Haven't read much recently on RaRa and his legal issues, but GA seems to be running a thug program recently.

I was told that Lucas wouldn't last. I think he has potential, but I don't think people appreciate how hard the transition from high school to SEC football is.

I would guess he goes to a South Alabama or USM.

Free article just hit 24/7. Four redshirt freshmen are now in portal: WR Marquez Dortch, OL Lucas Taylor, OL Jackson Cannon, & DB William Hardrick. Even with these four leaving, we are still over the 85 scholarship limit with more Freshmen, JC, and transfers on the way.

Man, the OL depth is taking a hit. I didn't expect Taylor or Cannon to play much this year, but now we only have 1 HS OL commit from our 2022 class still on campus.

I know with the portal that may not matter, but its such a new world.

We cannot afford to lose any of those 4. I?d rather see one of them used outside more as a second or third guy. Height ain?t everything on 10 yard curls, squares, outs, and stops.

Have posted on two other threads, but according to sixpack, we signed a kicker from William & Mary today, Evan Chang, 18 of 24 on FG's with a season record 57 yarder. Not happy with those we had in the spring or need more depth?

??? I think you're getting Robertson and Locke confused. Locke is at Wisconsin with Longo. Robertson is with Jeff Grimes at Baylor. Point remains though that Robertson, a backup here who couldn't win the job, transferred and is still a backup.

It's also funny that our two "Air Raid" signees went with OCs that like to establish the run. Crazy. They must not have consulted with Air Raid Certified KB and Crissy Froyd before they transferred.

YOU are literally the only one saying we aren?t going to pass the ball.

You are right, we DO have to pass the ball to have success. But there are tons of teams that are successful at moving the ball WITHOUT throwing the ball 65-75 times per game.

Really Clark?
04-19-2023, 02:16 PM
Name all the teams who have made the playoffs throwing it as much or more than we did. All that data says they are balanced at being able to do both, pass and run. Of course talent has more to do with it than just scheme; but still with all that talent they still decided that being able to do both gives them the best chance to win big.

I guess you look at the wrong data or more specific- incorrect data

Top 5 scoring teams in NCAA:

Tennessee- 523 runs/422 passes
Ohio State- 466 runs/410 passes
USC- 473 runs/515 passes
Georgia- 557 runs/492 passes
Bama- 457 runs/438 passes
Michigan- 600 runs/370 passes

The best offenses RTGDF and are balanced with Michigan being an outlier

Oh I'm sure that's all you saw, because the overall fact that we threw it more than we ran it destroys your agenda driven narrative. I mean you have told for months we were going to run 60-70% if the time...run, run, pass was going to be all we did. Except it wasn't true. I mean Mike Leach ran the ball more on our early drives in the first quarter, more than any other quarter this season actually, so you can't just cherry pick the first 13 plays and disregard the other plays without also acknowledging that is what CML was also doing in a similar vein.
