Forsythe needs to get his head in the game.

Lord McBuckethead

Lane. Error on not covering the bag at second. Then give him another error by not fielding a slow ass grounder to short allowing the runner to score.

Why the F do we play him?

Forsythe needs to get his head in the game.

No way he throws out that guy at first but the run would not have scored if he would have just stopped the ball.

Remember when Forsythe was elite defensively? Yeah, me either.

Lord McBuckethead
02-25-2023, 06:39 PM
Alright, pitcher is making pitches. Two runners on and two stolen bases allowed. They even waited for Hancock to catch that one before taking off. Still made it safe and it wasn?t close.

If I were the pitcher I would be all up in Lane Forsythe?s face.

Not sure he threw the runner out at first but it has to be an error bc it allowed a run to score. Ynetma struck out the very next batter for the third out. Lane has to come off the field. No way Hujsak can't make up for his glove with his bat when Forsyth may have 40 errors this year.

Ytema looks like Greame Lloyd with that sweeping curve on Lefties. A nightmare for LH hitters.

He was shifted. He only had to take two steps to field it. He should have made the play.

He's like Kamren James with Noodle Bat, is Mershon Hurt?

FYI- Hujsack was a SS at VCU, not great defense, but with a 900 fielding percentage ... is better than Forsythe's 800 fielding percentage these days.

Saltydog
02-25-2023, 07:02 PM
Here we go.

Ok, here's what I don't understand. We now have all these rules changes in order to speed up the game, right? However, the announcers keep saying how they've tightened up the strike zone. That's just going to lead to more walks, more offense and offset any gains you may have made putting the rules into effect to begin with. What am I missing here?

Lord McBuckethead
02-25-2023, 07:02 PM
Hancock needs to be ready, they first pitch strike him every time and just watches it.

Well fellas, I wore a formally unlucky shirt all day today. Last year we lost every single game I wore this shirt. I wore it and our basketball team won a game against a ranked SEC opponent on our court coming back from down 9 inside 10 minutes and now our baseball team winning with solid pitching.

I am taking full credit.

Good bounce back win. We've dug ourselves in a hole, so now we have to dig ourselves out of it one game at a time.

I think we just need to ride the new guys as long as we can. The veterans have had their chances and have just about blown them all. Embrace the youth movement and we'll be better off for it down the line. Think TA, Rowdey, Foscue, Westburg in 2018

Only got to watch the last 2 inimgs today but congrats to the guys for getting a good win after that mess yesterday. Will say though that in the 2 innings I watched that the strike zone was significantly more generous tonight than the bozo behind the plate yesterday that wouldn't call hardly anything a strike. Some of the umpires we've had over the prior 6 games have definitely made a major contribution to our base on ball issues.

I like what I heard as I drove home from the basketball game. Except for the scratchiness of Jim?s broadcast on my IHeart streaming. The commercials came through perfect but the game broadcast was all scratchy. Anybody else stream the game and notice??

Look I am about as an emotional baseball fan as they come and get really down on the team when they **** up or when they continue to **** up. I liked what I saw from our pitchers tonight. The ability to throw strikes. That's what we need on the mound. Good bounce back from last night's embarrassment and hopefully we can scratch out another win tomorrow.

Didn't get to watch. Looking at stats it seems we have a new weekend starter and a new solid reliever.

Need Gartman to stay good, and a Fr to enter the rotation and I think we have something. Dohm and Nixon should be bale to lock down those close late games too. If we can find starters that don't shit the bed immediately and give us 5+ we may be OK on the mound. That would be insane though, considering basically every inning would be thrown by a Fr or transfer. Not sure anyone else is so dependent on new faces, and it's hard to believe we can actually pull that off

Homedawg

They were brought in to be serviceable backups that cost no scholarship money. Mershon was the backup or hope to be.

Ledbetter's snag saved the crowd. The air left the building off the bat and he brought it back in.

The pickoff was huge too. Baseball is a contagious sport. Lots of quicksand yesterday for us. Today we had lots of "we're not ****ing this up" going around. Need to see it consistently.

We need consistency. Win a few close games and likely lose a few close games. Problem so far is our losses have essentially been blown out losses. Really good pitching can give us more consistency even when we have a weak hitting game like today.

Inconsistency? Cade Smith having a reasonably good start with a few walks in his first start, and then getting shell shocked with a tight strike zone and blowing up last night.

Consistency? KC Hunt being awful in both games he pitched. Slate Alford never seeing a pitch he didn?t like in the first 7 games, even if it was down the middle??- Of the other batters box

Again I will stand by Lemonis - he didn't luck into a national championship - be frustrated when we are frustrating to watch but let this season play out - we got a lot of new and young faces that need to learn to play together. It's hard to really know what you have as a coach until the lights come on. Being the best to to start the year has never won anybody a national championship.

Won't argue w this. I'll say this, when I left the scrimmages this spring - remember split squad- I would have told you we would be elite defensively. We were that good. I'm serious. I don't think we are bad defensively. I think we have played poorly to this point. I just can't see it lasting.

Maybe this is a blessing, that he did not have a big senior season.

Jack Walker was the Gatorade Louisiana POY, then became a Canadian for MSU. Jackson Fristoe was Mr Kentucky Baseball, then became Canadian for MSU. Then Owen Lovell was Gatorade Alabama, then quit baseball. Cale Breaux was a Louisiana POY.

MSU is owed a great dark horse player. All these Gatorade kids probably pitch their arms-to-death trying to win a plastic "district" trophy for a HS glass case. Maybe we tell our recruits to only pitch 50 innings, max, before MSU.

Jack Walker pitched 110 something innings for his HS as a senior. He is still not pitching to his potential at SE Louisiana State. Breaux pitched 280 innings (career) for his HS, we don't know what he added in travel ball.
