I first mentioned this a few days ago as looking probable for today, but the system slowed down and now it will be Tuesday before we feel the affects from it. Main threats will be straight line winds and tornadoes...a few of which could be strong in the hatched area. Timing looks to be late morning into the evening hours. Main tornado threat will be from any discrete storms that form out ahead of the main line of storms.

As of this evening, the cape values for south Mississippi tomorrow could be running upwards of 2500 j/kg. Dew points will be in the 70's with some moderate wind shear. Also some pretty impressive helicity streaks are showing around the Laurel/Hattiesburg areas. Could be an interesting day tomorrow

Conditions are more akin to April than early January.

What part of I-20 are you referring too and what are you basing this on?

Stark, what is your outlook for the Jackson Metro area tomorrow?

Stark, what is your outlook for the Jackson Metro area tomorrow?

While currently not included in the enhanced area, I would stay weather aware and have a way to get warnings. The Jackson area could certainly see some severe storms tomorrow. The SPC will update the threat map around midnight. I've got work tomorrow so I may or may not be awake then, but I'll try to post the updated maps and give my two cents worth when I can.

Thanks SVD appreciate all your info. I guess it depends on where that boundary sets up tomorrow.

Threat map stays the same. Below is part of the discussion just released from the SPC. If trends continue, it would not surprise me to see the enhanced area be expanded northward for parts of eastern MD and western AL.

WITH DEW POINTS IN THE MID 60S TO NEAR 70F,
SURFACE-BASED CAPE SHOULD APPROACH 2000 J/KG IN THE PRESENCE OF
STRONG SHEAR. ANY UPDRAFTS THAT EVOLVE WITHIN THIS ENVIRONMENT COULD
OBTAIN SUPERCELL CHARACTERISTICS. LONG-LIVED UPDRAFTS CAPABLE OF
GENERATING TORNADOES, AND EVEN A STRONG TORNADO, SEEM POSSIBLE.
DAMAGING WINDS ARE ALSO A RISK ALONG WITH HAIL.

Hey man, we're neighbors! Don't you love getting to play weather roulette every time these storm systems move through here? In all seriousness, y'all stay safe over there!

Nothing to speak of in my area - just rain and a little thunder in the afternoon, then another line of storms came through around 12:30 or 1:00 this morning. I believe there was some damage near Montgomery, but that's 200 miles south of here.

Doesn't bother me as much since I bought a storm shelter last year. Both my boys live within sight so all 4 (and a half) grandkids have somewhere to shelter. As far as neighbors, I can see Jones Co. from my house, my mailbox is on the county line.

That's a good thing to have everyone right there and know they're safe!
