Anyone getting nervous that you might not make it to Tampa?

Hopefully We'll make it out of Memphis on time. We had family fly Memphis to DFW yesterday with no issues.

My SW flight is scheduled for 6:50 am Friday morning.

That same flight for today is canceled.

I don’t know whether to trust them and show up in the morning, or go ahead and drive to FL.

I?m on that same flight. It?s been cancelled the last two days but the leg from Atalanta to Tampa has flown every day. I?m hoping we are good though because they cancelled today?s flight 24 hour ahead of time.

We're flying out of Memphis early Sunday morning. Checking Flight Aware, they're showing 3 flights from Tampa (1 to Dallas and 2 to Austin) cancelled, 2 Atlanta flights (1 arriving and 1 departing both to NY) and zero cancelled to or from Memphis. This is from their Wed-Thurs data.

I decided to drive rather than take the chance flying. But I'm in Fairhope so not as far as Starkville/Memphis folks. Not too excited about a 15 hour round trip though.

Saw a SW jet fly over my house at 8:00 this morning headed to Jxn Int?l airport. That?s a good sign at least.

Well, since you asked, Southwest received a $7B in (https://www.cnn.com/2022/12/28/business/southwest-pandemic-aid-meltdown/index.html) aid on the airline bailout package. Did they upgrade their software? Hire more pilots and agents? No, they bought stock back enriching their stockholders (https://www.commondreams.org/news/southwest-airlines-shareholder-gifts) and gave raises to their CEO and other top execs.

Southwest should pay every customer it stranded, full expenses incurred due to the stranding. Then a $5K punitive payment for each passenger for pain and suffering. And chances are....a class action suit will be coming shortly asking for a whole lot more than that. Then the gov. should fine them in the multi-millions and require them to pay back some or all of that $7 Billion they were given and squandered. In summary, I'm glad I don't own stock in Southwest.

Thats why the Government doesnt need to prop up businesses by giving them money or PPP loans. Give them tax breaks instead

It's funny who was against it at the time (just the libs). I got blasted for being against it. It was so unnecessary, they totally could have gotten a cheap loan on the free market. The bailout was nothing but a handout that was destined to end this way, it's what they've done with all the bailouts/handouts that came before.

Or maybe just don?t ?shut down? the economy and do neither. PPP was a ridiculous program and terribly designed, but there were people who probably deserved something like a takings claim for the stupid restrictions that were imposed.

Generalizations. I hate them. I am a conservative, and I was against it. Just discuss using actual points.
