I'll say this about Croom. Dude could get a team fired up coming out of the locker room. One of best in game with Bama in 07.

Yep. I still can't help but laugh at the amount of flat out lies that he tells in it, but water under the bridge.

2007 was a good season even though our fans like to run it down because the defense and special teams made some huge plays.

He is the second worst coach in modern day MSU football history, and badmouthed our university on the way out. He can 17 himself.

I don't like the way he badmouthed MSU on the special about him either. He really hurt himself doing that. Croom seemed to be a good guy but he took the low road at the end.

haha-no. Forever a Bammer. His principles were a complete myth. And he treated Jackie- another Bammer- like shit when Jackie tried to help him when the transition was happening.

He said Maine was the better team.. went to sleep on a recruit couch. Ruined Omarr. Said you could recruit a WR on any street corner in Miami but never did.His offense was one of the worst in MSU history. Punted from the other teAms 35. I could keep this up for days.

Never hire a Coach that his alma mater preferred Mike Shula at the time. That says it all. He was not and will never be a Dawg. Even down to those Russell Athletic uniforms that he wanted us to look like his precious bama 2.0. Don't forget his "Well, I didn't see that coming", 48-0 loss to OM when he nearly got every QB we had killed. Add in the gunfight on campus. The list goes on.

I've sometimes wondered what 2007 would have looked like had Jackie redshirted him instead of playing him a couple of games during a 2-10 season.

Absolutely not.

Compare the number of arrests under a room to the other recent coaches. Dude also never took the blame for anything wrong with the team, and he refused to cut out his friend McCorvey despite never fielding a top 100 offense in five years of trying WHEN THERE WERE ONLY 120 FBS TEAMS!

I didn't know that detail - the only bit I knew was that Byrne offered Croom one more year if he'd fire McCorvey and assumed the rest.

That makes Croom look worse. No one likes a boss who won't listen to their underlings regarding anything especially when the results are terrible.

Crooms told Bob Davie he would retire before running a spread offense and Davie told the world during a TV broadcast.

Byrne told Crooms he had to fire Woody and hire a Spread OC. Crooms said no.

Byrne did what he had to do. When you refuse to change what is clearly not working- you are not a very good coach

Croom never wanted the State job and it showed over and over again. He was probably looking for a way out and found one. We all know why they were determined to hire him.

He isn’t any better of a man than any other football coach we’ve had. The rest of the ones we have fired have generally not been too shitty of a human being to badmouth us after they left. Croom, after stealing millions of dollars from Mississippi State, had the audacity to talk bad about us after we had to watch the bullshit football he orchestrated for 5 years. This character schtick that people cling to is simply ridiculous.

We could have had most of the Saban LSU staff on a silver platter in 2004. But LT in his infinite wisdom begged Croom over and over to take the job while Jimbo was ringing LT's phone off the hook b/c he actually wanted the job. Jimbo would have left us on probation, but we would have caught lightening in a bottle for a few years while ole miss had Coach O.

Those years were some of the worst football i've ever seen. It was painful to watch. Heck even the year we went to the liberty bowl it was because we had a dang good defense. Croom was just not hc material.

Didn't he "coach" some from a golf cart and fall asleep on a sofa while on a recruiting visit. The majority of his career in the NFL he was a RB coach. After we fired him, he returned to the NFL has a running backs coach. How hard is it to coach NFL running backs? He exceeded his ceiling at State. Had more guys in trouble than Jackie and Jackie never had players in a gunfight on campus. Croom addressed this in this tv show and blamed losing his best OL, CB as costing him a good year. Should have had real discipline instead of just talking it. He wanted the bama job and it showed.

I know a guy that played for MSU when Croom was there. He said that he would install plays- including one where Pegues would run the ball - in practice. And then never run the plays in the game.

Remember when he unleashed his mid or late season "secret weapon" Arceto Clark? Nice way to burn his redshirt.*** Some people should remain a NFL RB coach. Thanks for nothing LT.
