This has all the makings of having been the plan all along.

At an SEC program, you don't just hire a coach this fast, even given this circumstance. This looks like we had this ready to go and the unfortunate passing of Coach Leach just quickened our timeline.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this? Knowing the way Leach seems to work, this feels like the kind of thing he would have worked on with our administration.

I think so too. Supposedly Arnett's buyout was $2-3 million. You don't invest that much in an assistant unless you really want to keep him

Seems possible though Arnett was being pursued for other head coaching positions or bigger DC jobs. So making him head coach keeps him and the current class intact. A bit of a gamble but I'm good to roll and see if he measures up.

Bought my seats and parking pass today for Tampa; will be there to honor The Pirate and welcome our new coach to the helm of the ship.

Hope to see all y'all there!! (how's that for a southern colloquialism!!) :)

Baylor hired a young defensive coordinator as head coach and things turned out well?
