Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

That can't be true. I've read on the message boards that our much smaller number of players going into portal is a unique thing that only someone as uniquely incompetent, stupid, hateful, and hard-headed as Leach could possibly ever have.

It's the way it is now and we're just gonna have to get used to it every year. Just ride it out and don't freak out. Heck bama is even losing starters and contributors too. Cfb is a freaking mess.

HS recruiting $ gone. Time for deal #2 in the portal e$pecially when I didn't get to play enough in a losing 5-7 $eason.

Yeah let's compare ourselves to that complete dumpster fire.... they are losing players because checks arent coming through that were once promised.

We didn't even make the top 15 of teams who suffered the most portal losses(they're tracking that now, lol). Om, Tennessee, Vandy , am and arky made top 15 though. Crazy world now.

They must be old school coaches. Heupel about to lose the locker room and needs to change or be fired.

Lol you're probably right!!!! Arky made the list at #1. Probably not a list you want to be number 1 on! Lot of people on this board were in love with Pittman last year because they played "physical" football.

Oklahoma State appeared to have an exodus earlier this week as well. We certainly aren't unique.

Just like the NFL, the 2nd contract is where it's at.

The NCAA is in a window where they can write the ship. But that window is closing fast, if they don’t do something to correct this mess the beauty that was college football will be over at least at the D1 level.

won't affect them much. They'll go out and steal other people's players.

This is true. We have lost relatively few to the portal compared to a lot of teams. That said, it hurts us a lot to lose two active playmakers.

Some Aggie on tRant is saying they're gonna get Petrino as an OC. Not sure what to think of this move if it happens... it seems like either boom or bust, no middle ground

It's just like the NFL now. The highest contracts are starters. A&M had the youngest team on the field this year due to their NIL/investment players. The previous starters are not sticking around. Every team that pays BIG NIL money will have this problem. Boosters will demand their investment brings an ROI immediately. Coaches hands will be forced and unnecessary losing will take place.

Yep, aTm was incredibly young last season. If they make a good hire at OC, and fill in their depth, they could have a nice season. Weigman has to be there though... he's gonna be really good

No one has this figured out yet. It seems you better pay your starters as much as you pay the recruits or they are going to leave. Apparently Ole Miss gave Judkins a nice deal or he would have surely left. Every single year is a "free agent year". Every year each player is playing for that bag. Only comes around every 4-5 years in the pros.

Wonder if you could actually hold a player to a 3-year contract coming out of HS or a freshman transfer to a 2-year contract

Yeah it's a nightmare I'm sure. Probably going to run some coaches out of the business if they dont make some changes soon.

But, makes me happy seeing A&M implode

well, there is no offical contract, so no. a transfer is more valuable b/c they would have to sit out a year on the 2nd transfer. Surely these NIL deals are mostly staggering their payments: either monthly or one payment each semester. A&M must have been paying signing bonus's or something b/c they are getting hit harder than most. I've been to A&M, doesn't seem like a great place for a black player. Especially an out of state black athlete.

Right, you have to choose which players to pay every couple of years. You pay to much and they must play regardless if they have a starter returning.

But- here is what's happening now:

1. Player signs with school
2. Player then uses their free transfer to go to another school
3. Player then graduates and transfers again using their free grad transfer
