Until MSU officially says we are wearing those, I won't believe it as Sarah works for MSU, Matt doesn't.

Maybe they had Matt tweet that out and test the waters for them before they officially announce it...ya know...to prevent backlash and all.

Looking in the reflection, it could be a coach's office. (Going off memory of touring the football complex this summer.) I don't recall a white couch though.

I agree with this. They probably sent the picture to Matt and asked him to float it. Matt works for the athletic department, and wouldn't risk upsetting folks for breaking news he wasn't supposed.

I think this was to gauge fan reaction, and I must say, "Pass with flying colors." These helmets are awesome. Now just win the game.

If Im not mistaken these are some sort of prototype that a company did for a lot of schools before the season started. TSUN had pictures of silver ones floating around. Could be wrong though.

The majority opinion by many on Twitter is positive. Including those for other schools and high school kids. It's working.

Why does it matter? What is "gimmicky" about a uniform? Does it affect the game? If recruits like it, are you still against it?

I understand what you mean but that same logic could be used to justify anything. At some point you have to choose an identity. Win and we can wear boring throwback unis every game and the recruits will come in droves.

Actually, uniforms ranks pretty low in why recruits choose a school. Pretty sure it's 8th behind a lot of other more practical stuff.

Let's throw the Bears for a loop and wear Red and Blue (and gold)

I am a long time believer in the traditional maroon helmet without the damn stripe. But saying that, I really like the gold helmet. If it makes our kids play harder than I'm all for it. If we were to add a third color it would definitely be gold, not grey or silver. But don't forget to just win the damn game.

I think the issue with us is our identity was essentially taken away and many think we won't get it back. So, going Oregon is the next best thing in the opinion of some.

There are some urban legends out there. One is that when we played Oregon, Knight gave them some type of cooling uniforms or something and he didn't give it to us and it made Jackie mad causing there to be some bad blood.

Honestly, if I was an athletic director at MSU, one of the first things I would do is get a NIKE contract.

Like Nike would sue us for using it anyways plus just tweak it slightly and it'd be a different logo. We can have that logo anytime we want. Problem is the dumbasses in charge are pot committed to the MState logo which is only slightly better than the hideous Mississippi State legal banner on the front of the jerseys. We have awesome baseball uniforms and that's it.

I have bad memories of how utterly ridiculous we looked in those space age uniforms getting our asses kicked by Texas AM. I do think we have to win for gladiator look to end up being positive.
