Of the 106 games we have played them 25 times at Starkville. One period of time played them 11 times in a row at Tuscaloosa. Some not so great decisions by powers to be at State. I know several "home games" were played in Jackson (terrible drive for me), but no wonder our record is so poor against them. Free article regarding series on Genespage.

I think we must have played them (and OM and other major games) in Jackson for close to 20 years. I know it was that way when I was there from '65-70, and carried on for some time after that (I didn't keep up with State sports after graduation, and up until 1995 or so). I only went to a couple of games in Jackson when I was a student - just too much of a hassle. I remember we played the Bear pretty well during that time in general though, and our team during my tenure in Starkville wasn't very good at all.

Is there a reason why we didnt play at campus? Seems like a pretty stupid self inflicted wound.

32,000 seats. Our fans would have been outnumbered by the Tuscaloosers

Looks like 10 games in Jackson. From 1896 to 1946 there were 3 three games in Starkville with 5 in Columbus, Aberdeen, & Meridian combined. 7 of 10 in the 50's were in Tuscaloosa. We must have sold location on a lot of games. Meanwhile, OM rarely even played bama in the Vaught years, thus a much better schedule and records for them overall.

I think Denny Stadium had about a 60,000 capacity at the time. Plus, we didn't have lights.

Jesus. We were operated like a sham for-profit college located in a strip mall.

In those first 60 or so years, how many schools had lights? Doubt you were forced to give up home games for this reason. I bet we just sold many, many home games.

Yep. Michigan only got lights on their stadium in the last 10 years. Bet they played their home games...

How many times has Tenn, Auburn, LSU or Ole Miss have played them? Hint: not as many times as us.
