Look who LEADS the SEC in these explosive play categories:

☑️ Completions resulting in 20+ Yards...Will Rogers (26)

☑️ TDs Thrown 20+ Yards Downfield...Will Rogers (7)

☑️ PFF Deep Pass Grade...Will Rogers (95.4)

Will has been outstanding this year, but I do think this can be misleading. Will has 83 more passing attempts than the #2 qb in the sec, bennett.

Here's the 20+ yds completion leader board with passing attempts beside it...

1. Rogers 26, 282 (9.2% of passes)
2. Bennett 25, 199 (12.6% of passes)
3. Dart 21, 143 (14.7% of passes)
4. Richardson 21, 145 (14.5% of passes)
5. Hooker 20, 140 (14.3% of passes)

I think by far the most impressive of the 3 stats above is the PFF grade on deep balls. That one isn't influenced by number of attempts.

If you consider the short passes our run game then, the 282 attempts would also be misleading. All statistics can be very misleading if there is no context.

I would like to see completion % on attempts down field. I think Will would rank fairly high in that.

Of course he would... that's why he rates so highly on the PFF stat, and that's why I say it's the most impressive. It also takes out short passes that become long passes bc of yds after catch

Who is this Will you speak of?

It is MR. Rogers? Neighborhood! And we are just living in it.

I couldn?t be more prouder of a young man who has silenced most of his naysayers. Too bad the Heisman voters think he is strictly a System QB, or he would probably be in the Top 3 or 4 mentioned. Win the next 2 road games, and he Will be mentioned.

He's been good. But had also been living on the edge with a lot of interceptions the last 2 weeks.

For a guy that has to put the ball in the air so much, he's gonna be picked off and should be more than others. He's had some close calls the last few weeks but so has every good qb on this list.

That PFF grade will effect draft stock. If he can keep this up, big if with the best defenses ahead of us, he is gonna quickly move up draft boards.

Glad to hear someone else say this. If you watch other football teams you'll see every qb at every level every week has 2 or 3 throws that "should be" ints. Heck I'm a Brady fan but he does it every week too. Mahomes last night had 3-4 that should've been picked. There's a reason those players are dbs and not receivers, they don't have good hands. Good qbs force throws sometimes it's just the nature of the position.

Shoulda, coulda, woulda. 22td's and 3int's halfway through the season, and two of those int's where the receivers fault.

Just sayin. If we want to beat any of Bama, Georgia or @ Oxford we can't afford any of those

I don't know - I would love to see more of the stats used in the PFF grade. I would almost bet that the number of deep balls by Will is less than the others. Think about an offense like Kiffin's. To get defenders out of the box, they have to take shots downfield. Add to it, they are low percentage throws by nature. We are the opposite, needing the running game and short passes to open the deep threat.

You just found the secret to that metric being Will friendly. Many of our 20 yard passes are short passes with a bunch of YAC. We got about half of those last Sat.

As others mentioned stats can show about whatever you want.

Aside from stats, Will is throwing downfield more and pretty accurate. He has throw some bad balls here and there but when you throw this much that is what happens (2 of 3 things are bad on a throw). That said the results have been incredible. Keep it up and we Will be hard to beat.

We now have the attention of most in college football world, just gotta keep playing till 00:00 in on season clock.

For me, so long as they are completed.

Take a listen to Leach from yesterday. The deep ball is his first question. He breaks it down nicely
