I like the run game this year. We are more explosive. Johnson is averaging 6.5 per carry because of those explosive plays. That can help us vs that 104th ranked rushing defense of TAMU. TAMU is giving up 176 yards per game with an average of 4.1 per carry.

However, TAMU is ranked 11th in passing defense efficiency or 10th in passing yards allowed giving up 153 per game.

This makes me smile. That might puzzle some people because it appears they will be able to shut down our passing attack and focus on the run. But that would require us to ignore who they have played.

Sam Houston. Gave up 91 in passing, but gave up 107 rushing.

APP ST. Gave up 134 in passing (had people open only 50% caught). Gave up 181 on the ground.

Miami. Gave up 217 in passing, 175 on the ground. Again, a QB who threw for 50%.

Ark. In a game Ark should have won, 171 on 19 attempted passes completing (63%). and rushed for 244 yards.

Common themes... they are allowing yards on the ground and that their stats vs the pass are padded. And let's face it, they have not faced a real passing offense. Sam Houston is not. App St is not. Miami.. Not really. KJ completed 63% on 19. We are going to throw it 2 times that much and we are going to complete more than 63%.

That's my break down. I believe Leach has shown, if it's there.. he's going to run it. This has a feel of a break out game.

So you're saying there's a chance?****

Seriously though, I wouldn't be surprised if we run the ball more this game than any other in Leach's tenure here so far.

If so, I hope he has added some more varied running plays on that little piece of paper. Will be there as usual! Hail State!

I would love to see that. I don't mind air raid as long as leach will take what the defense gives you. We've proven we can run the ball at times. This should be one of those times. Go run heavy if it's working until they adjust. Then go air raid. Mix it up.

I believe that's the one thing that could put Durkin's defense on its heels. Their secondary is very weak. If they have to load the box to stop DJ or Woody from popping off 8-10 yards a carry that's going to open up some really good shots downfield for Will.

This is exactly what I am thinking. I will wait to be proved wrong and I hope I will not be, I do not think that defense is as good as the stats say they are, they have played no one. I am cautiously optimistic that our offense will expose them. We play focused disciplined football I believe we will.

Just read a free interview on Genespage today with Coach Hughes. He pointed out that our 2 deep had now been in Coach Arnett's system for three years. If we can't get the job done with said two deep we may have a talent, speed, or system issues. There is supposed to be young talent in the pipeline at some positions. Saturday will help to continue to tell the story for this year, Hail State!
