Madison Booker of Germantown High School just committed to Vic and Texas. Germantown High School is in Gluckstadt just north of Jackson/Ridgeland/Madison. She is a top 5 prospect in the class of 2023. Offers from Mississippi State, Texas, Tennessee, Duke, UConn, South Carolina, etc. She could go anywhere in the country that she wanted to.

Dang that guy pisses me off. He started recruiting her when he was at MSU obviously.

If she didn't go there she was going to a certain school up north

Possibly. But Ole Miss wasn't in her "announced" final 3. They were Duke, Tennessee, and Texas.

Her dad is former USM basketball player Carlos Booker.

Guess if she was a volleyball player she'd go to USM for that wonderful facility

If Vic were still here, so would she be. She liked Vic and we're on coach 2 after Vic with no success.

Disagree. Another school with a pretty NIL deal would lure her out of Mississippi

I don’t agree with you in this case.

she has been familiar with Vic since she was in junior high. This is not a shocker at all but the NIL money does make it hard to compete.

That may or may not be true but I don't think there is big, big money in WBB. Also, everything ain't about money either as you think about NIL. Ain't but a few people (Bryce Young type) getting big NIL money anyway.

No big money? Vic got 6 figures to multiple recruits while at State. Imagine what he is doing at Texas?

lol- you think Vic is just promising this and getting signatures? Holy shit you guys are gullible or just uninformed. Vic was getting 6 figures for recruits at State from the Delta guys that used to support Jackie Wayne. Vic recruited well at State because we paid some serious money to do it

The MSU WBB team has a meet and greet at Buffalo Wild Wings tonight. It is being heavily promoted on the players' twitter, but not any of the university/team channels. I wonder if it is a part of a NIL deal?

My information on this particular situation for the last 10 years is coming from Madison Booker and her parents. Not sure where you are getting your information. But I’m sure they don’t know what they are talking about when it comes to where Madison will attend.

Well, we will just see what Madison has NIL-wise once she hits campus.

The fact that we have guys paying 6 figures for women's basketball while we can't beat out OM for a bunch of instate football recruits is one of the most frustrating realities of MSU sports. I can't imagine giving a shit enough about women's hoops to do that, but who am I to tell a person where to spend their hard earned money.

You're wrong here. She'd be at State if Vic was still here. She loves her some Vic. She liked the State program until he was pushed out the door and it fell apart.

Saw her interview with local sports last nite, she is all in with Vic, she talked about her relationship with Vic. No doubt IF Vic was at Msu she would have as well. Watched video of her play, awesome talent!

As far as NIL, how do you know what anyone gets and where & to whom your donation goes? The only info I get is here, some HS kid supposedly get a 6 figure from national media, or hear something at the games. I was told at a game Will Rogers gets $1000 for every TD pass he throws and he donates it to the Make a Wish Foundation", which is fantastic. I guess the NIL bottom line is they are now paid to play and their "salaries/deals" are not public knowledge just like most of our paychecks, even if you help pay them.

Pay for performance such as that is illegal. Can't be paid by stats.

No, what I’m saying is that we have people giving a lot of money to a sport that isn’t a major sport to virtually everyone in the country outside of a few fanbases (just like baseball which also frustrates me). I give what I can to the program and if someone wants to donate to a sport that very few people give a shit about around the country that is their right and I support it. It doesn’t make it less frustrating (to me) that we can’t get enough people to give a shit financially about the sport that holds 60 thousand people in the stands and virtually cuts the check to make womens sports exist at the level they do at our school, but keep on spouting nonsense. Just because you don’t like the fact that women’s sports aren’t watched by almost anyone around the country compared to major men sports doesn’t mean it isn’t a fact of life and it doesn’t make me sexist for pointing it out. They don’t need you on here white knighting for them. None of them want to sleep with you.

What a poor take. Women’s sports are such a drain on the athletic budget because they don’t bring any money in. They are all red sports that lose money. He is asking why spend money recruiting for a sport that drains the funds of the University

Good for Vic?.

I truly wish he would come back as our AD?. And you people that bitch about spending money on Wbasketball?. Let me tell ya something? The PR we got being in the National Champion games and beating UCONN was worth 1000x whatever the budget was along with Vic?s salary.

He was worth every damn cent?. And would run circles around this woke MF?er we got now as AD.

I miss Vic and whether u liked him or not?.. He was hands down our best coach on campus in any sport and that goes with what we have today.

Some of you people are just plain 17 stupid.

The US is 51% female. You know who does not support women's sports? Other women.

And females have less money to spend and fewer opportunities. What's your point? Not to mention their sports haven't been around but a fraction of the time men sports have been.

They can watch a TV to boost ratings cant they? But they dont. Instead the watch the Kardashians and Housewives of the Rich and Famous

No answer to this? Was she committed to Texas or not?

If she was- then your assertion she loved Vic is very valid.
If she wasnt- then you cant say that NIL wasnt a factor regardless of what the parents say. Most parents wont look you in the face and say- " the money is too much to turn down"

Yes. She just verbally committed to Texas. Vic started recruiting her when he was at MSU. He built a great relationship with her and the family, and they loved Vic and our program. If Vic was still at MSU, Madison Booker would be coming to Starkville.

After Vic left, Booker became interested in Texas because of Vic. She was also still heavily interested in MSU. But she couldn't get comfortable with our new coach (Nikki McCray-Penson) and the direction of the program. And of course the program started falling off. All this time, Vic was still recruiting her and improving the Texas program.

If Vic was at MSU still, Booker would be coming to Starkville. The primary reason she committed to Texas was because of Vic.
