I just don't see why the AP & coaches polls are still referenced by any media source.

1. The Data driven polls are more accurate early in the season.

2. The playoff committee makes a better poll once they weigh in

Yep, Utah should have dropped all the way out, that is at least behind UF. They had a head to head.

For get these polls. They have no bearing. They are obsolete. Only one poll that matters and we are a few months away from that one.

It's an interesting debate actually because Florida was the home team.

The debate centers around what you want rankings to tell you? Do you want rankings to tell you who the best teams are on a neutral field or do you look at CFB as some type of tournament where schedules are highly unfair & you're SOL depending on where the game is played or which SEC East team you draw (Georgia)?

- According to S&P Florida is 19 & Utah is 24. So S&P agrees with you.

- According to Vegas' power ratings, however, Utah is #10 & Florida is #33. Vegas thinks Utah would be a 4 point favorite over Florida on a neutral field.

So what do you want rankings to tell you? What should they tell you?

The polls are completely useless now. Meaningless

Yea I’m sure BYU and Wake Forest would outclass us on a neutral field

Not a chance

Oklahoma State at #10 and NC State at #13 while we are unranked looks legit too.....lol

Garbage polls

Ole Miss didn't cover vs Troy and went up a place. That should tell you how useless this poll is.

Florida was three points better than Utah in the Swamp. Based on that one performance, they are pretty much equal and should be basically equal in the polls. I think Florida should probably be one spot ahead of Utah essentially in a tie.

Somewhat related, another way you can tell these polls are more or less bullshit is they don't change drastically in the first few weeks. If Utah was #7 and Florida was unranked going into the week, unless you have some specific concerns addressed (like finding out a team with a question at QB has an answer), the default position should be to split the difference between them and put them one spot apart.

The rankings should reflect on the field data, as much as possible. They had a head to head, UF won. Therefore they should be ranked ahead. Now, next week if UF loses to KY by 14 and Utah beats a quality opponent, new information can override the head to head. But after only one week, people that beat other people should be ranked ahead of them, absolutely.
