I see this possibly being a big mistake on their part.

However could be NBC, sec, fox now that big 12 is working on deal with NBC?

Notre Dame isnt the brand it used to be. Their TV ratings on NBC dropped 48 percent last year.

While I'm sure they aren't as popular as they once were .....

If ND can get a contract for $75million per year, that will be more than each B1G and SEC member. In the near future the sec and B1G may reach contracts to pay more than $75m to each member but for now, they aren't. So ND taking a deal for $75m is the way to go.

Side note, the winner here is the leftover B12 if they can land the shoulder programming deal. Those schools are about to be without a tv contract or very small contract otherwise.

ND's problem though is with the conferences expanding it will be harder for them to fill a schedule.

Exactly, will NBC pay ND $75 Mill to play LA Tech and Cincinnati.

Ya think there's any chance USC drops ND due to the move to the B1G? If that happens, ND's SOS would go to shit...

That’s the big question. All this movement is going to cause tons of schedule changes. I think ND’s days of remaining Independent are coming to an end sooner than later

I agree, after the P2 is established the college football champion will be the victor of the Disney/ESPN conference, formerly known as the SEC, versus the Fox Conference formerly the BIG. It will be just like NFL Lite, you have to be in the NFC or AFC to play. If Notre Dame stays independent, it will compete for the football version of the NIT in basketball. I believe that you are also on point about scheduling. The networks will protect their investment, with a scorched earth mindset and demand upper tiered competition. That money will demand a schedule befitting of investment.

I think they'll let ND do whatever they want with their schedule. Everyone wants to play them anyway.

Who is "THEY"? Is the Disney/ESPN Conference or Fox Conference going to let Notre Dame in the P2 Championship Playoffs as an outsider? It's going to be all about the P2 and no one else? Outsiders will play in the college football NIT so ND will win the NIT?

They are exactly who you said, TV and the P2. They all want ND and will allow ND to do what ND wants for the time being.

Observing ND do what it wants to do and allowing ND into the P2 Championship playoffs as an outsider are two different issues. "THEY" will watch ND win the NIT until it gets into the P2.

You are making this too complicated.
