I remember telling this board Tennessee losing before OM wasn't a good thing

Why Tennessee proved they weren't invincible if notre dame could beat em om dang sure could.

If you don?t think that powder blue wearing bunch didn?t get together for a heart to heart after they sneaked in by the skin of their teeth, after getting bbq?d in Hoover, I got a house on top of Mt Everest with no heat that I?ll sell ya. And once they got there, then it became a point of them being tired of being State?s bitch. They are about to level things up in baseball with their big brother.

Honestly I don?t even think I could stomach TN winning a Natty with the way they acted this year. At least Bianco has his players play with humbleness and respect to the game. I could live with OM winning because then it means Lemonis will definitely feel the heat after the Texas style abortion of our season

Edit to add that if OM wins, which I pray to God Almighty they don?t, I hope God makes it up to us in football this year

The way OM is pitching nobody is going to beat them or would have beaten them. Heck, Ark held the OM offense to 2 runs in back to back games and could still only win one of those and only won that one by a run.

We struck him out a bunch and handled him well because we didn't throw him fbs. Dude cannot hit off speed at all and there's no reason to throw him a fb unless it's off the plate or way inside.

ETA he went 3 for 16 with 9 ks against us this year

This is humiliating. We literally have nothing on Ole Miss anymore in anything. Why God? Why? We are gonna lose our 3rd straight EB while OM celebrates halftime holding the NC trophy up in our face, probably on the way to a pretty good bowl, while we go to Gasparilla, Birmingham, or some bullshit. At least we got our luxury booths!

That may be the worst call I have ever seen in baseball history. The guy bunted. Ran directly down the damn chalk line, if anything he was running in foul territory on the line. Dude crosses up the first baseman, and he gets called. That was horseshit.

That is a horrible call and a horrible rule

According to my youth league case law rule book... the call for interference on a behind runner doesn't revert the ahead runners if they have reached their next base at the moment of interference.

So either the rule at the college level is wrong. Or needs to be changed.

Something definitely smells about the way they called that or the way the college rule is written. The OK guy had already slid across home plate before Elliott even released the throw toward first base.

Why even fake bunt on next batter tho? Terrible coaching

Lord McBuckethead
06-26-2022, 04:18 PM
Then a terrible call to square up to bunt sitting 3-1. That is the pitch to look down the pipe.

Like given the count, you pick either fastball or slider and sit on that one pitch. Anything else, let it go. Dude squared and let a 77 mph slider go down the pipe. Easy pitch to handle, and he wasted it.

Bdawg
06-26-2022, 04:19 PM
Could have extended the lead but OU can't hit anything. One hit with 2 outs started all that but that's it. OU got lucky with a chink pop up. Hopefully karma for that interference.

EdwardDrayton
06-26-2022, 04:19 PM
3-1 count. Bases loaded. Ahead 2-1. Elimination game. Know you’re getting a fastball. And you square with fake bunt attempt.

No balls at all.

it's more about the runner at second. the rule in college reads that you have "to go back to the last base you legally attained".

As an umpire you use judgment there and 2nd / Home had been legally attained. Bad interpretation

OM pitching staff in post-season was lights out and the reason they won it. Difficult to beat a team twice when you are going to have to do it scoring 2 or 3 runs at most. And the OM offense is not easy to hold down to nothing. Figured this game would go OM's way somehow once the interference call cost OU a run.

And you thought we shoved it down the throats last year, they?ll take it up a notch and capitalize more than we did. We made it to three straight CWS appearances and a Natty and didn?t have better recruiting class nor transfer portal success.

That?s the most concerning thing to me. Our missed have been big misses. We have fallen in love with the spin rates and ext velocities instead of ball players. It also doesn?t look like the portal has been good to us yet. I like the Samford kid. If we get the Nixon kid, AF pitcher, and Stetson kid, I?ll feel better.

The more college sports (baseball included) becomes about straight out paying recruits and transfers to come to your school or keep them there the more the advantage swings to OM in everything. They have way more boosters with extra spending cash interested in doing that than we do and have already been buying players under the table for years anyway. NIL in its current form is not going to go well for us. Yes, we will have a big athletic budget just by being in the SEC but you can't use that money to buy players unfortunately. We don't have the doctors and lawyer graduates that just have money out the wazoo to throw away on buying college athletes.

You?re wrong there. I know a good bit of State grads who are lawyers, one of whom is a former State baseball player. I also know a good majority of people at UMMC are State grads. Our problem is very evident-when people post here about the Bulldog Initiative people complain about not having to give money yet complain when we don?t have NIL money. So it?s time for people to start putting their money where their mouth is.

You would have to show me some statistics on that for me to believe it. I know we have some undergraduates that remain loyal to MSU that go to medical school at UMMC but I would be shocked if it was a majority. Best way to get NIL money is for Bulldog Club members to take that money and send to the NIL collective. That is certainly what I'm thinking about doing. I don't see a bunch of MSU fans spending money on season tickets and all the expenses of going to games, giving to the Bulldog Club and then still sending in a wad to the NIL fund. There is more to life than college sports and higher priorities in life for most folks.

The good thing about NIL is there aren't fixed "dues" that you have to pay to keep your seats so to speak. So people can at least make it fit their budget a bit more.

I may be wrong but from judging how their team and fans reacted this seemed more like something to help them cope with what we did last year rather than a celebration. It seemed more like a "relief" whereas last year for us it was more of a celebration.
