Cats giving the Vols all they want tonight. 2-2 in the 7th. We really need UT to sweep this series. Just searching for two teams to stay behind us at this point. Mizzou handling UM would be a good thing too. But that ain't happening I don't imagine.

Not sure how Kentucky's win helps us. They're now 64th in rpi, and we're 20 spots behind them at 84th (last in sec). Kentucky is no longer 13th... SC is, and they also have 9 sec wins like us

Brother 7. You have the Faith of Job if you think there is a path for Mississippi State to the NCAA tourney.

Oh, there's a path - win these 3 series. Not sure how likely that is though... very unlikely if you ask me

Going into today there are currently 6 teams with the same or worse record than we have. We have got to stay in front of two of them. Some way, some how. We have the tie breaker over two of those teams (Bama and UM). With UK being one of the others I was hoping UT would sweep them and put them further behind. First things first, get to Hoover. Obviously that is a must. Last night did not help that situation.

Not enough pitching to win a conference tournament. And that is what it would take to make NCAAs.

I'd rather not risk the embarrassment of having to pitch Forsythe, and/or suffer yet another Tommy John casualty or 2.

Well, look at this way. If we have a pitcher that is going to have that happen, then it is going to happen no matter what at some point. It would just happen in summer ball somewhere so if it does it's better to surface as soon as possible so they can rehab sooner.

Plus, I go to Hoover every year so it would really suck for us not to be there.

if this was football then I would equate Hoover as our bowl game ... I know that's sad but imo it's all we have.(if we get there)

As you said, sad but true.

Step one, get to Hoover. Step two, win the first game and get to double elimination. After that, anything else is just gravy. Make it to day four at Hoover then we can start dreaming of scenarios that would get us in a regional.

That's pretty much it. Sweeping here, winning 2 of 3 there, avoiding a sweep somewhere, none of that matters now. It's just make the SEC tournament and play some games. And with 9 games to go and so many teams tight walking the wire to make it there are too many scenarios to even talk about right now that could put us in or keep us out.
