If Howland does retire, and for the sake of this thread assume no one enters portal, we would have a solid nucleus coming back right? Brooks is only senior am I correct?

Molinar
Moore
Matthews
Garcia
Smith
Watts
Davis
Carter
Jeffries
Fountain

That is a roster you can immediately win with

It would be an attractive job for a coach honestly

Bob Richey, Furman
Grant McCasland, North Texas

2 guys I think we could realistically get that have done great jobs at their schools.

nah, not really. Molinar is going pro. And it's college basketball so you can't assume anyone is returning.

Molinar is on some people's NBA mock drafts.. he will probably leave. We also add:

Kimani Hamilton
Riley Kugel
Jaykwon Walton

Big man Keyshawn Murphy is redshirting so he will be available also. Yes we will be talented, probably not as talented as this year's team with Brooks and Molinar both likely gone. That's what makes this season so frustrating because we have the talent and depth to be a top 3 or 4 SEC team

Molinar and Tolu have almost no chance at returning. And a new coach all but guarantees some players to the portal. We will have a completely new looking roster next year

You can take Molinar and Smith off. What you have left is not going to be good.

Do we have a PG coming in and someone who can hit a wide open 3 pt shot?

Why would Tolu not return?

There’s a very good chance Tolu returns

Well, we all know one thing, no matter what the roster looks like, if Howland returns it will be another year of boring, average basketball.

Fire Howland.

I heard the same thing about Polk when I told people to get ready for him to bolt. He might return, but playing for money somewhere is what 90% of these guys want. He may return, but I'll be surprised if so. Once you have the injury scare- it starts being about getting paid more quickly

Same reason baby spoon, lamar peters, holman, bost and all the others left......Want to get $$$$ and end up in some euro league in some not so desirable locations but still making some very good money......

Fountain is hitting the portal as soon as we pack up the bus after our annual SEC tournament loss.

Cam Carter is going to be one to watch. He's not happy currently.

Jeffries is going pro to Europe
Molinar ... NBA
Tolu is 75/25 turning pro. I would be shocked if he returns.

Cohen doesn't have the stones to go make Greg Marshall tell him no.

If those two are gone then next year will be bad, real bad.

I guess it depends on where you rank Basketball in importance at MSU? This program has been to 1 Final 4 and a couple or 3 Sweet 16?s in the past 62 years. Not sure where the idea that State is some basketball powerhouse. The winningest coach in our history is in his 9th season at WKU with no NCAA appearances there. The Coach that got us to that final 4 has as many losing seasons as winning seasons and is 74 years old sitting in the radio booth. This program needs the Lightning In the Bottle Hire who can first coach em up then recruit em in.

I said that in the sense I thought we had a lot of talent coming back when we apparently do not

Educated Guess on Molinar's Professional Departure or Science? You seem sure.

What he's done at WKU means squat. Has nothing to do with us. From 2002-2011 we were a pretty good program. Yes, his teams underperformed in the post season but this was this best stretch in school history. NCAA tourney 5/7 years. I'd take that again in a heartbeat.

His last 7 years he made the tourney twice. 1 of those was because he won the SEC tourney. Right now we’re exactly where we were at the end of the Stans tenure. We just have a less popular coach. There’s no other difference.

Ok, say right now we are equivalent to Stans last few seasons. I won't argue that too much but there's no arguing that Stans took us to levels that Howland hasn't and is not going too.

Early Stans was a great regular season coach who could never figure it out in the postseason.
