We are poorly coached, our team doesn't know how to adapt, and we play too slow for the modern game. The good teams always look like they play faster than us.

Can we not expect to keep it within 25 in those situations? A loss I'm fine with, even a 10-12 point loss...but 25?! This is embarrassing as hell for our brand, what little brand we have in hoops. That being said, I do think its time for him to retire. Granted, if he goes on to make the tourney and win even a single game, that's as good as we've been the past 20+ years, so....maybe we need to reevaluate our history as a program and our expectations?

As people have pointed out in the thread, Ben's offense is quite dated, but if y'all remember this was the complaint of UCLA fans when we hired him.

Hopefully when Ben is done, we can take a chance on a promising young guy with energy that runs more of a modern offense.

Yeah, I guess I just don't view things from a sense of, "we've never been that good, so we should never expect to be good". When you run an athletic department and your program is stagnant, you try to improve it. Dan Mullen took over a stagnant perennial bottom of the SEC program, and what was the first thing he did? Set expectations. Said we should EXPECT to compete in this league...and live him or hate him, we did just that while he was here. Why should the expectations be different with hoops? If we have never been more than a Last 4 in/First 4 out type of program at our best, why should we not expect our leadership to want to improve that, and why should we as fans not have higher expectations and demand more? Because we "haven't done it before"?? That seems like a loser mentality to me. Good thing our baseball program didn't settle for just making Omaha, and set an expectation to win it all. Our football program had never gone to 10+ straight bowl games, and look at us now. Expectations help drive success in my opinion. But maybe I just expect too much and should start being satisfied with being a perennial disappointment

I guess I don't follow. TT had 2 winning seasons between Bobby knight and beard (8 years). Pat knight went 19-16 (NIT), and tubby smith made the tourney. Tubby promptly left for memphis. The other 6 years, they had a losing record

The Florida and Minnesota games are shaping up as killers. I felt we couldve easily won both.

We've got home wins over bama and ark, so we've beat some good teams. We just really need a solid road win (at ark, at bama, at lsu, maybe at aTm), and to hold serve at home except for auburn. This is assuming no hiccups, which is assuming a lot. If we have a hiccup, then we need 1 more good road win. Not gonna be easy, but we're still in good position.
