Beamer is the guy we should have hired either 4 years ago or 2 years ago. Raised in coaching, known recruiter, had been on our staff, married to an MSU alum - and I doubt he got a call either time.

I'm certainly not a huge leach fan, but I don't think I'd have passed on leach for Beamer at the time. Although I hate leach's style, he does have the history of being able to win with lesser talent, and that's a big deal for a program like us. After I've saw Beamer as a HC, I'd make a trade though

They haven't been to a bowl game since 2018. Of course they're glad to be there. They also went 6-6 with a new coach so optimism is high. For us the bowl game was ho-hum because we finished with a whimper and lost a couple of headscratchers. Felt like a consolation prize.

Grass is always greener though. Fire and fun!

Howland has coached at 4 different schools & changed his style some at each school. So he has done something's different.

I'm rolling with you on this. I thought we'd go 6-6 and win our bowl, so I expected 7-6 this year. I'm gonna say 8-4 regular season next year.
