Men: https://www.espn.com/espn/feature/story/_/page/bracketology/ncaa-bracketology-projecting-2022-march-madness-men-field

Play-in game against Wake Forest for an 11 seed
8 SEC teams in the field

Women: https://www.espn.com/espn/feature/story/_/id/30423107/ncaa-women-bracketology-2022-women-college-basketball-projections

8th team out
10 SEC teams in the field
The women's tournament will expand from 64 teams to 68 this year for the first time, matching the men's format and making it a little easier to get in.

Neither team is as bad off in the postseason picture as you would think reading this board.

A play in team is like a 2 seed in the NIT, correct?😳

No, a play-in is one of the last 4 teams to make the tournament. A 2 seed in the NIT is the 5th-8th teams out of the tournament.

The women won’t even make the nit tourney , will do good to win 3 or 4 games in the league

It was a good run for the ladies, I don’t see it coming back anytime soon

Men have a really good chance to make a statement against a quality Arkansas team on Wednesday at home.

Team needs to come out ready to prove they belong because they didn't do enough in the non conference to build a quality resume.

No. It means you qualified for the NCAA tournament, but flame away with fire howland, the team sucks, bring back stans etc etc etc

Last year UCLA was a play in team. They went to the Final Four and almost beat at the time an undefeated Gonzaga team to make the title game.

So yeah...basically the same as the NIT

Also Oregon state a 12 seed makes it to the elite 8 and had a shot the last few minutes against Houston
bottom line is just get in and anything can happen , besides the 95 sweet 16 team and the final 4 team in 96 we have never made any noise in the tourney anyway so any kind of run will be rare air..

If Coach Novak has our women?s team as the eighth team out I?d be shocked and he would have earned every cent he has been paid. Unfortunately I don?t see being that close considering our lack of size across the board and our number of injuries.

Not my point. Last year?s Runner up in the NIT could have beaten nearly all of Seeds 13-16 and probably a few of the 12 seeds. This ain?t Football Bowls where 13 of 14 SEC teams make post season. There are ridiculous automatic qualifier rules. Put it back to 64 selected or the two tourneys need to be merged and 96 teams need to make the NCAA tourney. This 68 crap is stupid.

Maybe the men come out with a solid 40 minutes Wednesday and defeat the hogs.

I think we beat them.

Need to bad and do not need to be losing at home early in the conference season.

The whole point of expanding to 68 is to allow more at large bids to the tournament because they realized the MEAC tournament champion probably isn?t as good as the runner up to the NIT?
