We are signing who we targeted and had mutual interest in MSU. I'd love to have 3-4 5* too and move up the rankings, but it's not going to happen unless we go the red duffel bag route on top of NIL $$$

It's one of our higher average recruit rankings in a long time.

That said, we may finish 11th in the SEC, but there isn't going to be a whisker of difference between where we finish & where about the 4th or 5th SEC team finishes. Throw in the typical slight under- ranking of MS recruits, & it's pretty much in line with where most of the teams on our schedule fall outside Bama, LSU, A&M, & UGA.

Well over half the class has a chance to be ranked 88 or higher by 247, which if you think about 89-90 being the 4 star level, then it's reasonable that with a slight under ranking, half or more of the class could be a 4 star type player.

Last year's class was the best of Leach's career & this one is better

This post reminds off one you posted when we first hired Leach showing how successful he is against schools with much higher crootin classes. Time and time again STATE has shown that rural unknowns after 2 yrs or so development can become just as good if not bettern those high profile 5 star athletes. It just takes more work on the staff's part than having 5 stars flowing in that some are ready almost immediately. STATE is a known venue for Leach type coaches. He knows the drill and the cards he's being dealt.

You give Leach this many quality OL with length, foot speed, balance and strength from which to pick then add in that he already had been getting good QB's, WR's and RB's. Add all that up, I say he can make this offense Hum in the years ahead.

On defense you keep the quality DL, LB and DB's that I have come accustomed to expect, I feel the "D" will be sustained if not improved.

Ha. You got it. I admit I did have my level of skepticism because it's always played out that way and a lot of people went silent Monday after he weekend settled down. Seemed we were slipping(like normal). But it sounds like booster got their damn act together and made a few things happen. I try to stay somewhere in the middle with all this stuff and keep a level head. That way I got a better chance of being pleasantly surprised instead of disappointed. But if we all really thought about it, we usually over achieve in wins and losses compared to our recruiting rankings, so that's always a good thing. Hailstate today baby because I am pleasantly surprised!!! Hopefully we keep stacking balanced classes and trend upwards each year!!!!

Soap opera is exactly the best way to describe it. I used to follow it closely but it's to much drama. We usually do fine but I believe Leach is stepping it up for us.

Leach is in more “fertile” recruiting grounds than he has ever had at TT and WSU. It is hard to judge his past and compare to now in recruiting. It does seem to me that he has a staff that maximizes their abilities if we can get initial interest from a recruit.

I don't think the Mannings will play that marketing game, and I think Arch will be able to choose where he wants to go. Like I said earlier, if anybody is pushing him more to OM I think it would be Cooper.

Classifications in TN are weird. Coached there for a while - Louisiana is similar. Don?t let the class distinction fool ya. Division II Class 2A is a monster in TN - massive private schools that compete a lot with public, but that recruit like you can?t imagine.
Ty Simpson - QB signee at Bama - is from Westview. It?s a solid HS program with really good coaching staff. His dad is a good coach, as well. Westview is 2A....but that school is more than twice the size of 2A schools in MS.

Louisiana privates, especially at the lower levels are MUCH better than the low level public schools, that's why they are separate for the playoffs so that the public schools can compete.

I know they say the differences after the top 10 are minuscule, but it just hit me funny that we are talking about them like top 25 is down. Isn?t that about normal for them? 23-25? It?s just that everyone else in conference seems to be up. Hell, didn?t Vandy finish top 35?

That's a possibility I guess but the way "The Network" used Cutcliffe to make sure they didn't miss out on getting Eli and then didn't want, or need him anymore, I wouldn't think he would want to get back in that mess up there again. He didn't like the way "The Network" operated as he wanted to do things the right way in recruiting and in general, and that caused an issue. Actually, I don't think Archie would even ask him to come back to OM based upon what happened when he was the OM HC. Stranger things have happened up there so nothing is impossible.
