This shocks the hell out of me. I did not see this coming from him or them.

I thought he was a shoe in for USC.

I surprised they did that. He's been 2021 Dan mullen level for 2 years now

Dont buy the USC hype when USC lets a member of the board of trustees, Pat Hayden, promote their hated rival Notre Dame on NBC as commentator. The university did not support the football team during the Reggie Bush sanction even when court documents proved the football program not guilty of anything when internal emails were released to the public? Why go to an organization like that unless they offer an extreme salary. BTW, USC has never hired a top shelf candidate at time of hire in its history?

USC could have told his agent he is out of the running

Good for Coach Franklin. Maybe he will be able to take that next step.

I will say this is something to keep an eye on. Keyshawn Johnson said on the morning show he's on that he would bring Kiffen back. Said he's had a bunch of conversations with Kiffen and that he would bring him back.

Keyshawn's voice carries a lot of weight in USC circles. I have to think they might kick the tires on that to gauge interest.

I would if I were USC. People tend to forget that Kiffin was under heavy sanctions from the Pete Carrol years. He still recruited really well and won lots of games in spite of this. I think if they could do it over again, they might have handled it differently.

Coaches are whores.

If USC says they are sorry and shows him the money- Kiffin will be at USC

The SC folks never thought so. I told one of our boards a while back, many of them wanted him but the sexual assault stuff at Vandy was going to be the killer with him there. That won't fly out in California. Most of them had moved on from him several weeks ago.

Burnt and the stone pilings pulled down. Their fans hated him as an OC and did NOT want him back as an HC the first time. They would go into open revolt if he was hired again. I expect Kiffin hasn't forgot being fired and left standing on the tarmac at an airport in Arizona either. There isn't much that would shock me in college football anymore, but Kiffin to USC would do it.

Wow, I had forgotten about that. I went back and googled the story. I don't understand how Franklin is coaching today.

Keyshawn carries no weight in the USC cooperative hierarchy. Maybe he is listened to sports voices but sports are relegated to second class status, that is why the corporation has never made a top tiered hire in it history. The arrogant USC bastards were jealous of Pete Carroll becoming the face of the university years ago. Remember, USC is a money making institution and athletics are not anything compared to Hollywood, medical, and real estate acquisitions out there.

To add on to the story of Kiffin getting fired in Phoenix, I will give more information to ED. USC was working some international gigs at that time. USC was sending its organization and band to London to entertain the London money market elite while doing business there. USC also did the same in Shanghai, China to access Asian assets. USC did the same in Brazil to access the Aerospace corporate assets there. The band performed at halftime during a soccer game. USC even wooed the Celtic Tiger in Ireland. Now USC is gentrification motivator in South Central LA.

USC had a major problem on the horizon and that was a Thursday night football game that upcoming week and the fan base was going to turn on the Greek Cypriot President Max Nikias, the AD, former Notre Dame Hack Haden, and head coach Kiffin. This would have been Ole Miss at Tennessee on steroids PLUS. The USC game could have been a very dangerous place for those three. Internet chatter was heard at USC. ESPN did not have another game to break off to because it was the only football in America. ESPN could have been in a difficult position.

The fan base was going to globally embarrass the corporation because their voices were finally going to be heard. Not ridding the corporation of Kiffin could have cost the cooperation many millions of dollars so there was a clean mafia type severance.

I'd be interested to know why anyone at USC who wants Kiffin back is confident his second stint would go differently than the first one.

Pat Haden has /had absolutely nothing to do with Notre Dame. He was an absolute legend at QB for USC. They made it to three Rose Bowls and won two national championships while he was the QB. He was also Phi Beta Kappa and was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship. He has a BA from USC, a BA from Oxford, and a JD from Loyola. He has never been affiliated with Notre Dame in any capacity whatsoever, other than beating them when he played football against them. The only reason he lasted as long as he did as AD was his hero status. You have some "interesting" takes on USC.

Pat was a legend at USC until he refused to fight the Reggie Bush sanctions. He was the NCAAs boot licker and he put the fan bases noses in the dog shit when interviewed. He learned how to shut up after the court documents became public and he faded away. The fan base has accurate and long memories of Haden and he understands that he better stay secluded in his gated comunity for his personal safety.

Because while under sanctions from their previous coach, he had a record of 28-15 and had a 10 win season.

My question is name someone better than Lane Kiffen that will take the USC job. Helton was never a head coach prior to getting promoted from within to USC.

I agree. Kiffin was solid there considering how tough the sanctions were while he was HC.

You obviously don't know a damn thing about USC. You called PAT HAYDEN an Notre Dame hack.

Pat Hayden was a member of the USC board of trustees and a member of the Notre Dame telecasts for many years. As a member of the Notre Dame telecast team as an announcer, he would glorify ND and that is an indisputable fact. Is that not a conflict of interest? PH also was getting paid by NBC while humiliating the USC fan base? NBC only telecasts ND games and no other college football teams. PH agreed with the NCAA findings, as ND announcer and later as USC athletic director, and indicated he would reform the rogue football program because of Reggie Bush. Then the Court ordered access to the NCAA mainframe and emails proved misconduct of the NCAA. The Court ordered the release of emails put in evidence which factually countered Haydens support of the NCAAs actions. This is the public record an can not be disputed. Hayden was exposed as an idiot and traitor to the football program with his complicity in support of the NCAAs misconduct thus Hayden acted with misconduct. Because of this misconduct, Haydens legacy is garbage regardless of his achievements before the Reggie Bush sanctions. The end game is Haden did more damage to USC football than good, that is called mitigating damages. This statement is not 99% accurate, it is 100% accurate thus I am very tuned into the real USC.
