Even in the two five win seasons did he every lose the locker room? In 2013 going into Arkansas the season was going bad with five wins. They went in there with a Freshman QB and won, got to six. What's going on with him? Out side GA the East is weak and he has the second most talented team over there.

I think the mentality that made him fairly successful at state with 2,3 and 4 stars is what is hurting him at Florida with 4 and 5 stars.

If you didn’t work hard you didn’t play. If you didn’t act like a decent human in class or academic tutoring (see JRob) you didn’t play. You had to prove yourself on and off the field with him. That blue collar mentality worked here because our kids are used to having a constant chip on their shoulder. Not so much over there.

I’m sure there are some scheme issues as well as he was always slow to make any adjustment.

IIRC, we went to Arkansas with 4 wins. Dak and Tyler Russell were both injured, but Russell was cleared to play. Russell was knocked out of the game in the last series that happened to tie the game and send it to OT. Damien Williams came in at QB and scored a TD on our first possession. We left Arkansas 5-6. Damien was the starter for the Egg Bowl, but Dak came in for the fourth quarter and led the OT win to get bowl eligible.

I cant remember a coach ever losing his team this badly. He never came near this close while at STATE. You hafta try real hard for UF talent to lose to. MO.

Wasn't there a split in the team once w.r.t. QB position? Some wanted Damien and some wanted Fitz - can't recollect exactly.

Yes. The Damian/Fitz split was a disaster in 2016. It certainly cost us the South Alabama game.

No, but the team lost him a few times.

Truth. And what a shame that it was his best team/teams. People who think State fans are upset at Dan for leaving just don?t get it; we were upset at him for not finishing seasons. You can be both interviewing for jobs and still coaching the end of a current season but he appeared to just say fvck it.

A lot of the players we kicked off and took advantage of Joe Dan recruited.

You are correct about the 4-6 going into Arkansas.

This; it happened every year right around egg bowl time. He was job hunting every year.

Dan lost everything from team to support to you name it. This season was a total debacle.
