I thought I'd look at the other side of this, and see what unranked teams we have lost to since 2009.

2009 - Houston, Auburn, Arkansas (Auburn and Arkansas finished with votes in AP poll, but not top 25)
2010 - None
2011 - Auburn and Georgia
2012 - Ole Miss
2013 - Auburn (now ranked #6)

In the last 4 years, we have only lost to 4 unranked teams, one of which is now in the top 10 and should have been a win.

We aren't losing to bad teams, but we aren't winning the big games either. We are squarely in the middle. Is this our identity? Will we always be a team that wins the non-top 25 games and loses the top 25 games, with an outlier or two every season?

Mullen has never lost to a team who ended the year with a losing record. He has only beaten 7 teams who have ended the year with a winning record, only 3 of them in the SEC.

The SEC teams Mullen has lost to have a ridiculous 244-59 combined record. It's been tough, but we lose every single time. It would be nice to win at least one - had plenty of chances the last 3 games.

I am not discounting the facts you have presented, but take a look at the actual teams that we have faced. Should an upset have occurred by now? Most would hope yes. But those are some of the best teams in the country year in and year out. Also, take a look at the scores in many of these games. in 2009 we only lost to LSU by 4 points. in 2010 we lost to Auburn by a field goal, lost to Arkansas in OT, and beat ranked Florida. In 2011, we almost beat SC losing by 2, and barely lost to Arkansas by a field goal. Last year I'd agree we pretty much regressed losing to most of these ranked teams handily. This year look how well we played against A&M and Bama, both top 10 teams.

I am not trying to make excuses, but pointing out that we have been close in a lot of games against the top teams in the country. At some point Dan will need to produce the results or he should move on. When I look at this current team and the type of talent he is building for his system (Dak, Robinson, Shumpert, Chris, etc) I can't help but think we are more than just close. We need to pound Arkansas and the bears, get to a bowl and take care of business, then get ready for a huge year in 2014.
