It has certainly been a weird year for average teams beating really good teams. Purdue, Baylor, A&M, and some others have knocked off Top 10 teams but couldn?t beat the average to slightly above average teams on their schedule. I am sure there are more Top 10-15 losses that are head scratchers. I just can?t think of them right now.

Not sure what the rub by state fans toward jimbo is. Jimbo is a good coach.

OM is a pretty good team. They actually played some defense tonight. If they play just decent defense, they're a tough team to beat.

Not arguing. I've said several time Kiffin is a good coach. Hadad just said his has absolute confidence we win Egg. Can't say that I do. Seems like a toss-up to me really.

ETA: I also like Kiffin and hope he stays at OM. Makes for a good rivalry IMO. Like both Leach and Kiffin much better than Dan and Freeze. As coaches and people. I like the way Kiffin picked us today ... that was cool IMO and I thought he meant it too.

Time? This is year 4 for Jimbo at A&M. He has stacked up multiple top 10 recruiting classes, and he's underachieving again this year.

He's kind of like Mullen...he's needs a great QB, but Mullen can develop them and Jimbo can't. Seems like a nice dude though.

If Jimbo was elite, it wouldn't matter - it would be "next man up" like it is at Bama. But Jimbo's not elite. A&M will lose to LSU and finish 8-4 - it's what they do.

They will shoot him up before the game if his ankle is an issue and he will play. He won't miss the Egg Bowl based upon the way things are now.

This season is clearly disappointing, but I do realize losing your starting qb is a huge blow. I do think he shoulda had a better backup. The fact he fact bama with calzada is all the evidence I need that jimbo can coach though

Probably true, but his lack of designed runs in the offense has been greatly missed.

Oh, hell yeah, he'll play. He's just not as explosive a runner right now, and they just aren't as good offensively if he isn't breaking off those 10-15 runs when the pass isn't there

Or put it another way - who should LSU/uf hire because that?s what ur looking at to be better than jimbo?

Those are ur options for better than jimbo.

Hell look where auburn had to go to for a coach last year. There are very few sabans.

Jimbo is not a great coach, he?s passable coaching wise, but he is an elite ?recruiter? and with that fact alone his teams will win 8-9 a year and maybe get one more every now and again. UNM had the same game plan we did, make a bad QB beat you and we both did. The question is how does that game last night go in College Station?

I have a slightly different take. Go back and look at A&M's history, over all their coaches and you'll see the same things year-in, year-out. Mediocre results with 'top-end' talent.

What does that tell you?

Because it tells me that the issue isn't with coaching - the issue is, and always has been, that Texas High School talent is OVERRATED AS HELL. Could be a lot of reasons for that, but look at Texas and Texas A&M. Every year, they get the top talent in that state. Every year, they underachieve on a national level.

Jimbo Fisher is a good to great coach. He's been successful everywhere he's been. But at some point, A&M will fire him because he doesn't win the SEC or make the playoffs, hire another "can't miss" coach, and repeat the process. They have gobs of money, tons of fans, a huge state with a lot of talent, and yet....that talent never delivers. At some point you can't keep blaming the coaches for everything.

87/124 of their players are from Texas, and I can just about guarantee you that all 87 are overvalued because of that.

EDIT: Look to our own QB room, where we have a 4 star Texas High School phenom, who played in an Air Raid system, currently buried on the depth chart behind a bunch of Mississippi boys who some of our own fans run down constantly.
